This game does not suck!

Posted by crunchUK (5963 posts) -

hi, let me explain. Recently i've been playing this game and can't see why everyone HATES ON IT! So far i've been having a lot of fun - The setting is cool and exciting. hong kong in 2020 feels awesome. Like something out of star wars. But what i like most, is how you can approach your objective in different ways - You can sneak quietly, very quietly, or you can kill everyone... very quietly. Or you can just bring grenades and a machine gun. Being sneaky is my favourite though. Not only that, but there's an assortment of "sub objectives" that will make sneaking and shooting easier, and will make you feel smarter along the way.

Creep round the garden unseen, then whack the guard in the back, steal his radio, and tell all the secuirty forces to go home. That's how you do it. niiice.

One thing bugs me though - The story doesn't seem to make much sense. At mission 4 i am infiltrating a private mansion fortress. After deactivating radios, shotgunning guards, blowing up sattelite dishes, i enter and suddenly no guards are attacking me. I proceed and enter this room with this old man who is supposedly the CEO of datadyne, this megacorporation which is dealing in some shady buisness. I greet him blah blah blah then some woman walks in and challenges me to a fight to the death. I then beat her, and walk home. WTF WAS I DOING THERE EXACTLY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

But then, i guess it's like an action film. A bit retarded but fun and exciting nonetheless. So stop crying about how it sucks.

And while we're on the subject of crying, BAD NEWS EVERYBODY! THE HALO 3 SERVERS ARE DOWN!!!  :(

@crunchUK: Dude, what? The Halo 3 servers are down? You being serious? FFFUUUUUUU-

Also, I got PDZ at launch and thought it was a really fun game. Never got why that game had so much hate?

Did you play PD 64... DID YOU!?!?

That's why PD:Zero sucks. (Along with the playdough character modeling.)

yeah i did, but since im like 3 years late playing this game i believe i am approaching it not as an all time classic wonder etc etc but as a crappy game. which isn't so crappy after ALL

Worth a purchase if it's on the cheap?

i'd say < £10, yeah

I actually enjoyed it as well. The harder difficulties where a pain in the ass though. One great thing about it: local multiplayer WITH BOTS.

I've also never understood some of the hate directed at this game. It's not the greatest fps but it's nowhere near as bad as some people make it out to be.

Yes. Im being serious. Look at the halo 3 forum, its ultra flooded with threads about it. Also maybe it has hate because halo existed by then and made perfect dark zero look bad whereas nothing existed to make the original perfect dark look bad?

@crunchUK: Yeah, I just went on B.net. People sure love making the same topic on there OVER 9000 times, huh?  I wonder why the servers are down, doubt it's maintenance as Bungie would have said something prior.

Also, people will hate your Halo theory even though in their hearts they know it to be true. Well done good sir, you've figured out why people hate on PDZ.

Eh, it kinda does. But thanks for expressing your invaluable opinion.

i know. It will be raining angry nerd tonight. Better get my umbrella

On the subject though, maybe they're going to announce that halo 3 has "ended" and laugh at the woe and deperation on the forums

@crunchUK: If that happens someone might as well steal my iPod because I'd become an hero in no time.
#16 Posted by crunchUK (5963 posts) -

I i was bungie i totall would do that. It would be so hilarious

@crunchUK: ...Would you be happy playing PDZ for ever and ever and ever?
#18 Posted by crunchUK (5963 posts) -

No but it would be like a giant earthquake through the gaming realm of the internet

And i did play the 64 version too.
I actually still have the 64 version.

#22 Posted by Pie (7080 posts) -

exactly. And it was a pretty terrible launch title.
#24 Posted by somerandomdude (55 posts) -

This is just some fanboy coming up with an excuse to defend M$ in order to defend this shit!

#25 Edited by Hitchenson (4682 posts) -
@somerandomdude: You invalidated everything that you said once you called them 'M$'.
#26 Posted by pweidman (2326 posts) -

Meh...pretty generic fps.  But it did have some fun online modes.  I wonder, does anyone still play it online?

The original Perfect Dark was great back in the day.  I fired up my N64 the other day and man, that game does NOT age well at all.

Yeah man, go into the multiplayer, you can play it with bots, it's awesome.

I never saw people hating on this game.

BTW i own the collectors edition .

EDIT: WHERE THE HATE ? Depends on what you think is hate. If you think hate is about 8.1 or below (81 on metacritic) then yeah its hatred.

#30 Posted by Milkman (16682 posts) -

I actually really really liked  Perfect Dark Zero when it came out. I don't get the hate either.

INORITE?!  AND THEY ARE PUTTING THAT FUCKING GAME ON XBL!!!

THEY TOOK THE TIME TO BRING PERFECT DARK OVER TO XBL, AND YET WE CAN'T EVEN GET A NEW FUCKING KILLER INSTINCT?!?!

OR BATTLETOADS?!?!

Rare makes me die inside so many times...and then they release Viva Pinata and Banjo-Kazooie and make me happy.
#32 Posted by Druminator (1678 posts) -

Haven't played it since launch and back then I thought it wasn't that bad but really it's not as good as PD on 64. Can't wait for the remake!

#33 Posted by xplodedd (1316 posts) -

i didn't like it at all, it was slow, boring, and i don't know a bit half assed.... but now that i think about it, for november 2005, its really not that bad. iv'e seen worse.
