To celebrate the announcement of the sequel/update of persona 4 arena (persona 4 arena:climax) I decided to do a tourney to welcome new players and bring back old. The tourney will take place next month with a date later to be decided. I have also decided to do two different tournaments for the new different players: Newcomers and Players. Newcomers are players who are either a. Barely ever played b. Not much onlind experience c. Too rusty to play at max lecel. While players are people who feel confident in their ability.This is too not have new players get destroyed by older players and have a chance to win. Finally, this is only for PS3 users. sorry :(

Rules:The tournament will be played in a double elimination format, so players will need to lose a match twice to be eliminated.Matches will be best 2 out of 3 rounds for 99 seconds each round. Winner will be best 2 out of 3 matches.Semi-finals (Losers and Winners bracket) and finals will be best 2 out of 3 rounds for 99 seconds each round. Having been forced to watch all the release-window tournaments pass me by with the EU version nowhere in sight, I suppose this is the best opportunity I'll have to go against some people from Giant Bomb before that DLC/expansion thing comes out. I just bought this game like 2 months ago, and had some fun with it. I did pretty good playing this game against friends so I'll see if I stand a chance against against some of you guys.

What International 7 player Rugby tournaments do is have all skill levels play each other. Then they determine where you stand based on your round robin pool record and then have 3 different playoffs for your tier of skill. I think that could work here, especially if numbers are low.

Yeah, you probably shouldn't split it up too much, because I doubt there's going to be that many people that will participate. Honestly, I don't even know if you'll get enough people to make a proper "pro" tournament. It seems most people around here are pretty casual.

I'm not offended. I'm just wondering how you came to the conclusion the most people around here who play the game are casual.

Based on the comments from everyone around here and the general lack of activity. Maybe I'm totally wrong and the hardcore players just haven't shown up yet, but it seems just about everyone who has responded so far at the very least haven't played in quite awhile.

I guess I can only speak for the time when I organized multiple Persona 4 Arena tournaments, but I really wouldn't describe most players as being casual players back then. I guess things might have changed with a new audience now, though.

To be fair, I only use "casual" in opposition of being a "pro". I'm sure there's at least several that would fall under the intermediate tier, if included. (Myself included, probably.)

Okay just a heads up: Saying #GB_P4A on IRC means literally nothing. You need to specify that the room that gets used is on the quakenet server. So if you use Chatzilla (like me), you need to say:

/server quakenet

/join #GB_P4A

as two separate statements. Check your own IRC client to figure out what the commands are. But I bet they're fairly similar (although maybe you will have to say "/server quakenet.net" and not just quakenet.)
