Chie.

Went in thinking Yukiko, but haven't really figured out how to play her yet. Messed around with Yosuke and Naoto a bit and liked them. Yu is kind of sluggish. Elizabeth seems interesting too. Haven't played anyone else yet. I'm still figuring it out is what I'm saying.

#53 Posted by Brodehouse (9841 posts) -

I've been rotating from Yosuke, Naoto and Yukiko. Yosuke and Yukiko are great because their quick attacks have more range than you'd expect (and Yosuke's is hella fast). Naoto is good because her chump combo deals a ton of damage, and her gun stuff does too. Only problem is I feel like a punk projectile spamming, even if that's the character's entire hook.

I like Chie''s dragon punch move, does a ton of damage, but I hate how little range her basic attacks have.

I'm still getting into it and i haven't played a few characters yet, but so far I'm leaning towards Charlie (Yu).

#55 Posted by Adaurin (186 posts) -

SPOILER! Labrys is actually Machello from Amy, you heard it here first!

#56 Posted by DonChipotle (2716 posts) -

Now that I've spent some time using everyone, I'm still going to main Naoto (she;s my favoriteeee) but I'm also going to use Elizabeth because I dig her playstyle

#57 Posted by Nux (2328 posts) -

Elizabeth. I really like how she plays and she is really fun too.

#58 Posted by Mesoian (1574 posts) -

Kanji at the moment. Having a lot of fun with him, but he has SEVERLY limited options against certain characters. I understand why he's considered low tier now, but he can still definitely compete.

#59 Posted by Vashyron (199 posts) -

I'm attempting to learn Akihiko. Heavy emphasis on attempting.

#60 Posted by davidwitten22 (1708 posts) -

You guys already have mains? Jesus that was quick! I still haven't even managed to play as all the characters yet...

#61 Posted by Vashyron (199 posts) -

@davidwitten22: Well, you also figure that some, if not a lot, of people probably watched videos of some of the characters or like a certain character or two, so that probably has something to do with it.

Mitsuru and Labrys ... trying to learn Shadow Labrys

#63 Posted by ThePhantomnaut (6197 posts) -

Chie not only because she is Chie but her playstyle reminds me of Shadow Dio in Jojo.

Vinny was the voice actor, of course.

Definitely Naoto, but I do bounce between Yosuke and Yu as well occasionally.

Also: I hate playing against Yukiko. So much. Soooo much.

Couldn't agree more.

I've been trying to learn naoto. She's a pretty fun character

#68 Posted by Brodehouse (9841 posts) -

Playing Mitsuru. I think I'm 11-47 right now. Why won't you guys fight me?

#69 Posted by Bloo561 (107 posts) -

chie and kanji is me i like close range members

#70 Posted by pepperzz (160 posts) -

Naoto and Chie for now. Would use Akihiko too but my roommate has dibs on him :\

#71 Posted by redyoshi (149 posts) -

Decided on Liz as soon as I heard she was playable and after using her I don't think I'll back off anytime soon. It's pretty lucky that her playstyle seems to immediately click with me better than the rest of the cast as I'm still trying to learn the nuances of an Arc fighting game.

Yeah she is a bitch. A good way to fight her is to make her whiff her moves by mixups. Putting her in a corner she is prone to burst or DP and you can counter easily. Also it's good to know your character's movement. I tried Akihiko vs Yukiko and his jumps are not high enough to get through fans easily, his hop is too short and I believe his evasive roll doesn't last enough. For Chie, her speed is able to beat Yukiko's zoning and annoying factor.

#73 Posted by Hector (3358 posts) -

I'm learning to use Mitsuru as of right now.

#74 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19325 posts) -

Hell if I know.

#75 Posted by McBonJon (159 posts) -

Still messing around with the game, but I'm trying to figure out both Yu an Yukiko.

#76 Posted by MrBatty (3 posts) -

Maining Yu, subbing with Naoto and Akihiko.

#77 Posted by Vashyron (199 posts) -

@ThePhantomnaut: You can evasive roll if you time it right to the move she is doing. You can Weave the fans, but you have to be careful and not leave yourself open when she sends her Persona out. If you can evasive behind her when she attacks and get a shot in, you can get some decent damage and hopefully put some pressure on, since the few Yukiko players that I've beat absolutely crumble under pressure if I can keep it on them and don't screw it up.

For some reason I'm destroying ranked matches with Yukiko

Same here. She's quite a capable fighter.
#79 Posted by dvdhaus (356 posts) -

Is there a character that you guys would recommend to a person not that good at fighting games? Right now I am playing mostly as Yukiko.

Well, if you're specifically looking for a character that is not complex to utilize, Yukiko's probably not the best choice. Yu is the most straightforward character out of all of them.

#81 Posted by dvdhaus (356 posts) -

@FluxWaveZ: I started with Yukiko because she was my favorite character from the game. Might try going through the challenge mode as far as I can with each character and see who I like the most after.

#82 Posted by TheMathlete (323 posts) -

I still haven't used every character, but I like Yu so far. Got some online matches in with him and those went relatively alright.

#83 Posted by Ulong (445 posts) -

The speed at which Aigis can transfer between annoying keepaway  to insane rushdown is amazing. Maining Aigis.  You do feel a little weak when orgia mode runs out and it has to regen, but when you have it up she is such a strong character that it makes up for it.

#84 Posted by Hailinel (24382 posts) -

I'm starting with Yukiko. I haven't had time to experiment with many of the others yet.

#85 Posted by fantasyfreak07 (66 posts) -

I really like how Chie plays but I've yet to try everyone. I'm going through the story mode first before I try on maining someone.

#86 Posted by Harpell (158 posts) -

I've only played as Charlie, Yosuke, Chie and Kanji so far, but so far Chie is my favorite and best character, with Charlie as close second. From the looks of it, I may really enjoy Naoto, but I have yet to try her out. I do always dig a fighting game character with a "fucking gun" though. Stryker is my fave in Mortal Kombat...

If you can nail high damaging throws, Kanji can work. Chie has great normal attacks and pretty good when putting folks in the corner thanks to her movement and Persona normals. Yu has great damage combos and his range with the sword is good for spacing. If you are choosing Naoto, she has really good zoning with her guns and traps. There are skulls below the opponent if you play Naoto and once you deplete those with every 5th shot and some traps, you get two additional instant kills from your supers in addition to your regular instant. Dunno about Brosuke but he is pretty fast and good for interesting mixup opportunities.

Didn't really like Mitsuru at first, charge moves aren't my favorite, but she has become my main, replacing Yosuke (sorry partner).

#89 Posted by Blubba (527 posts) -

I've never really played fighting games (discounting Smash Bros.), I'm mainly going to roll as the characters I enjoyed the most from Persona 4. So I'll just be sticking with Kanji, Yu, and Chie.

#90 Posted by davidwitten22 (1708 posts) -

I play mostly Yukiko and Mitsuru, so those two are vying for it. I want to develop a Naoto and an Elizabeth though, as it fits my style. Also, any labrys players should add me I need to learn a bit about how to play vs her.

#91 Posted by DonChipotle (2716 posts) -

I've started messing around with Labrys but not enough to consider her as upstaging my new main of Mitsuru. I thought it'd be Naoto, but Mitsuru is just too fun to use.

#92 Posted by FinalDasa (1604 posts) -

Naoto and Chie are a lot of fun for me right now. But I haven't gotten good enough with any character to really consider it my main.

Kanji

Because, you know... Kanji is fucking badass.

#94 Posted by kerse (2110 posts) -

How do you get better at this game? I spent a whole lot of time doing the challenges to see who I liked best then loaded up arcade and got killed by the first guy, there's just so much to think about in this game and it moves really fast. I'm not exactly amazing at fighting games but I was decent with MK.

#95 Posted by Turambar (6732 posts) -

Maining Elizabeth I guess because I like being cheap as all hell. Her standard projectile is so absurdly unfair, and she has an SP skill that's a heal. All online opponents thus far have reacted to it by blocking, fearing an attack. That won't last long I'm sure.

#96 Posted by ChrisTaran (1583 posts) -

Yukiko all the way. The perfect distance fighter.

#97 Posted by Pickingwings (182 posts) -

Didn't really expect this going in, but after trying everybody my main person is Yukiko.

That Zio is pretty slow, though. I'm weaning myself off of relying on it because if they time an airdash right it's such a free punish.

Planning on using Yu until I get a better understanding of all the game's mechanics. After that I might switch over to Yosuke, Aigis or Yukiko.

Mitsuru because I like to rush dat shit.
