Game » consists of 9 releases. First released on Aug 07, 2012

Persona 4 Arena is an Arc System Works-developed fighting game with an Atlus-developed story mode that pits characters from Persona 3 and 4 against each other.

Would be ok if...

...I watched the story mode on Youtube and mailed Atlus USA a 20$ bill along with a friendly note?

I have zero interest in fighting games but I hear the story is great so I would give them my money while urging them to make a game in a genre I actually want to play (Persona 5 for exemple)

Okay? No idea.

Funny as hell? Definitely.

If you want to support future persona titles, buy the game and just watch the story.

As far as fighting games go, the AI is remarkably easy to beat, even on normal (at least in my experience). You could consider renting it if you're really unsure if you'd want to buy it for more than just the story.

Wait for the price to drop or rent it. The fights in story mode are really easy, and that's coming from a guy who sucks at fighting games.

You could YouTube the story and save your 20 bucks for groceries or something.

If $60 is a lot for you, wait a few months for it to drop in price. It's a very fun game, even if you're not big on fighting games.

Good luck finding the story on YouTube, I've had no luck so far.

That's kinda nice but also mean?

you can literally just mash A and get through story mode. It is not difficult.

The people saying it's not difficulte got it all wrong.

I don't care about the difficulty, fighting games are just boring as hell (not including SSB, those are awesome). And maybe it's just me but a mostly text based adventure, even if 40 hours long, isn't worth 60$.

OP, there is a ton of story content in P4A. Whether its worth 60 bucks is up to you. But I'd say 20 dollars is a good price, so just wait until it drops.

Don't send 'em 20 dollars in a note. That's stupid.

I've watched the entire story mode online, but it isn't up on youtube so far, yeah.

@mutha3: not as stupid as you would think. From a 20$ game, after the game store cut, the microsoft cut, the distribution costs, atlus wouldn't get more than 5-7$. 0$ if I rent it or buy it used.

Also, a drop to 20$ on new games would take 12 to 18 months.

How is fighting games boring yet you say Smash isnt?

Persona 4 Arena is a fighting game with a visual novel on the side.

In story mode there is only one round so as soon as the battle starts all someone has to do is burst (which gives you 100 meter if you do it right out the gate) and then use your instant kill. The AI in story is so stupid they will run into it. Elizabeth might be the only one that can't do it reliably because her instant kill requires someone to hit her three times in quick succession.

Seems easier to buy it and then just throw the game into a ditch if you're not interested. Everybody wins, including the ditch.

The ditch can actually learn how to play the game and probably do good against folks.

I play fighting games...for the story!!!

On a serious note, P4A rekindled my love of fighting games so I say it's worth 60 bucks, but if you're just gonna play it for story than you might as well wait for a price drop...I guess...maybe...

I'm horrible at fighting games yet I LOVE playing this game! Take it from me and try something new and you may be surprised! If not, then I'm sure you can find what you need, you jerk. :/

If you give a shit about Persona 4 and spending $60 won't destroy your life, I say buy the damn game, even if you don't like fighting games (which I don't). The only way Atlus gets to keep making the stuff we love is if we buy it. Maybe the (seemingly uber) popularity of the series in Japan will guard against the possibility of them never making new Persona stuff, but I still like to support my favourite games.
