Did This Change Your Opinion of the Vita?

#1 Posted by DonutFever (3006 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

Not necessarily make you want to buy one, but give it a second thought, or make you look into the system more?

At first I didn't really care about the Vita. I didn't think it was going to be bad, but I wasn't gonna buy one. But after this was announced, I looked at some of the games coming out for it, and Gravity Rush + Touch My Katamari + P4G have sold me on it.

#2 Posted by FluxWaveZ (17868 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

No. I was a fan of the Vita the day it was announced, and P4G just cements my opinion of the platform further.

#3 Posted by Nick (572 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I'm still on the fence, this looks cool though. Also the screen is huge.

#4 Posted by Etnos (245 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I don't own neither a PS3 or 360 nowadays, as PC Gamer who enjoys JRPG the VIta is a day 1 buy for me.

#5 Posted by benjaebe (2782 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I was more or less gonna get one eventually anyway, but P4G made it a day 1 must-buy necessity.

#6 Posted by Hailinel (18093 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

P4G remains the only reason I have any inclination to get a Vita.

#7 Posted by the_OFFICIAL_jAPanese_teaBAG (4267 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

Ok if I had 300 dollars I wouldve bought it

#8 Posted by MikkaQ (9714 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

Does a PS2 port convince me to buy a handheld? Heeeell no.

I mean there might have been a second where I was like "yeaaah I could play Persona again". But then... I ceased that idiotic thought train.

#9 Posted by Chias (81 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

Is there any proof out there that Golden is actually coming out over here? If not, I'm gonna have to say I'm gonna skip out. I already have a next gen handheld that I don't use in my house, I don't need another.

#10 Posted by AngelN7 (2842 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I still want one but Im not in a hurry to get one soon I'll probably pick one after they cut the price of it , Persona 4 Golden is a great excuse to get one but no one game justifies the system if Squares gets in with the FF Type games or a 3rd Dissidia or Sega with the Valkyria Chronicles series I might consider one soon-ish

Proof: it's a Persona game.

It didn't change my opinion of the Vita, it made me come to the realization that I am the kind of person who will pay $300 to play a Persona game.

The same Persona game.

It's a Persona game, so you can pretty much assume it's coming out here.

Hopefully with a better name than "The Golden".

@LordXavierBritish I think the extra animation, character, weapons etc warrants a purchase of Persona 4 for Vita even if you played through it already. Also scooters.
#15 Posted by alternate (2376 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I already played Person and watched a good few hours of someone else play it - am I rushing out to buy a handheld so I can play a slightly improved version? Not any time soon.

I will buy it eventually, I buy every console. I bought the PSP when it started to die on it's arse and got a a new system and a few games for £50.

i think the vita looked nice but i like my 3DS and am not in a hurry to buy it. If did i would pick this and uncharted up for sure

I don't care about JRPGs or handhelds so no, it had no effect on my opinion.

#20 Posted by Cloudenvy (5729 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I was always planning to get a Vita, but P4G sounds amazing so that surely doesn't hurt.

#21 Posted by Calavero (86 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I would never consider buying a $300 console for a single game, but there are a couple others that interest me. And since this is Persona I'm seriously having second thoughts about getting it, even though I've already got like 150 hours in the PS2 version. Then again P3P was one of the reasons I got a PSP and I ended up loving it, so I guess I'll keep an eye on the Vita and see if anything else comes up.

#22 Posted by Video_Game_King (29286 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

Sort of?

#23 Posted by Ducksworth (632 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

It made me consider whether I should stop watching the Endurance Run now (only ~9 episodes in) and experience the game for myself.

#24 Posted by Jimi (1117 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

My perspective of the vita will be established once it has been hacked. I want to see what emulators it can handle. I barely use my psp for psp games, instead it is a portable psx and snes.

#25 Posted by TehFlan (1944 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

It's about as much of a factor as Ocarina of Time 3D was for the 3DS, which is to say I'll be waiting for a significant price drop.

#26 Posted by ZenaxPure (2568 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

It didn't change my opinion for sure, I already wanted one as I always try to get all the consoles as even the ones often panned for weak libraries (aka the Wii/PSP) have tons of good exclusives on them assuming you play more than generic AAA shooters or whatever. It does however get me stupidly excited, I mean I will openly admit to being a huge achievement/trophy fan so P4 with trophies is like a dream come true.

#27 Posted by rawrsair (775 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I was already interested in it, and hearing that just furthered my interest.

Oh shit, you're right. I've put about 50 hours into Catherine trying to get the Platinum, and that takes about 15 hours to beat once, so P4 being 100+ hours means...

Fuck.

Same reason here. I'm going to wait till P4G is released here in the US before buying the Vita.

#31 Posted by Addfwyn (1800 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

I already love my Vita, this is just another game on a [increasingly large] list of games I need to buy for the system

#32 Posted by Oscar__Explosion (1412 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

When I heard that both Final Fantasy X and Persona 4 where coming to the VITA I got really super excited.

Yes, I am going to play sub-400 dollars to play ports of ps2 games that I have already played years ago multiple times.

Yes, I am an idiot.

#33 Posted by M_Shini (481 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

i do enjoy persona 4 but i cant say P4G had any impact on it, i don't really know what extra P4 has but since i've already seen the story and most of what goes on with people there isn't anything too compelling reason for me to revisit it least not for what i want out of it, though i reckon sometime down the line i will pick it up and play it a year or two after its out, after all pretty much none of the launch line-up and the other games kicking around later in the pipe is what ill end up buying when i get my Vita as crazy as that sounds.

I'm gonna buy this game at launch and wait until Vita+memory cards are reasonable prices. This game is still the only reason why I'd ever buy a Vita.

#36 Posted by Commisar123 (1760 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

Not my opinion, no, but it did change my desire for one. I want one now because of this game, but at the same time this is the sort of thing I expected to be on the system in the first place so I feel the same way about its quality.

#37 Posted by metalsnakezero (2048 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

It wasn't just P4G that made me want a Vita but the fact that I can have the whole Persona series on a Vita that made me want one.

#38 Posted by MooseyMcMan (8554 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

No. The idea that a port of a now four(ish) year old PS2 game (that I can watch on the internet, with amazing commentary from Jeff and Vinny, for free) would be enough to make me want to buy a Vita is crazy. If/when I buy a Vita, it will be to play NEW games!

On the other hand, they are adding scooters to this game, and lots of other stuff...

#39 Edited by Scrumdidlyumptious (1576 posts) - 1 year, 3 months ago

No I've always wanted one since Gravity Daze and seeing how the OS works. The launch lineup is great as well. This is going to be a long 22 day wait.

It has done nothing to convince me to buy a Vita but if something else convinces me I will buy it with the system.

No. I just bought a PSP, and the Vita is going to be expensive as FUCK here in Brazil, it doesn't make sense to buy one just for ONE game (Yes, it IS my faovrite game of all time, but to buy a Vita i would need to work two and a half months and not spend ONE SINGLE PENNY.). The Vita for me still is: "The handheld i will buy in a distant future."

#43 Posted by Onijai (5 posts) - 1 year, 2 months ago

Nope. It still makes me think "overpriced hunk o' junk"! But it just makes me want one more now. Curse you, Atlus. I'll cave eventually when they drop them in price.

#44 Posted by ApeGantz (215 posts) - 1 year, 2 months ago

I'll buy one near the release of P4G. I actually purchased a PSP 3000 for P3P and Persona( I also had some PSX games purchased already). Sold it when I lost my memory card and I went out and purchased a Go for $60 and a 16gb Card.

Now I have those games along with Persona 2: IS. So about time P4G comes out, the Vita Library should be better :D

#45 Posted by DallasTheGamer (138 posts) - 11 months, 24 days ago

For me P4G is the reason to get a Vita. If it wasn't for that game, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't think about getting one.

#46 Posted by rjayb89 (7558 posts) - 11 months, 24 days ago

I have a Vita. I regret getting it so much, but Persona 4 Golden must be eaten by it. If that game comes out for the PS3/4, then that Vita shall be given to the childrens and forgotten.

Same for me.

Though only a small bit. It as at least made me consider getting one in the future. Maybe one or two more good announcements at E3 will help push me more in that direction.

#48 Edited by cosi83 (355 posts) - 11 months, 23 hours ago

I really want to play this game, this and Gravity Rush, but I fear for the years ahead. For my upcoming journey, I'm looking to get a handheld and I think that the 3DS, will be better supported and ultimately have a superior catalogue of games

P4G remains the only reason I have any inclination to get a Vita.

Same here, but I wouldn't get a Vita just to play it, especially since I already have the PS2 version.
