So for the most part, I bought a Vita for all the free games via PS Plus and P4G. I've never played a Persona game, but have heard a ton of hype about this one in particular. I've always been a huge fan of other japanese RPGs, like the Tales games, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and more. Somebody sell me on this game

Wanting to get this, need thoughts
@cbarnes86: You appreciate likable, memorable characters? Solid RPG gameplay? Fantastic style? Amazing music?
Then Persona 4 Golden may just be for you.
If you've never played an SMT or SMT spinoff game, it plays kind of like pokemon. Large emphasis on exploitation of weaknesses, and swapping out your pokemon (or in this case, Personas/Demons) as the situation demands. The SMT aspect of this game is rather light, so it's a nice starting point, if you've never played an SMT game in general.
The game really shines in its social sim aspect. Developing relationships with the characters and building socialization stats gets super satisfying once you've established a nice rhythm. The characters, themselves are all well-conceived and the character interactions/dynamics are consistently endearing...if you're into this sorta character cast, that is.
I'm actually finding it rather hard to sell this game... I think the best part about this game is that there's not much out there that you can compare it to. That alone should be enough to convince most people to give it a chance, I'd imagine.
It's one of the greatest games ever made.
Yes! This! That's what I was trying to say!
It's great. Don't play it on hard mode the first time though. I did that and hated my decision, even though I'd just beaten Persona 3.
If you're a Giantbomb member with 500+ posts, and you own a Vita, and you're still not sold on this... I don't see what else people can do to sell it to you.
I don't get it. You have a Vita and you enjoy JRPS? Why are you asking us to hype you about this?!?! WHY ARE YOU NOT PLAYING IT RIGHT NOW!?
This is like ordering a $200 steak dinner and then asking the internet to get you hyped for it (apologies if you happen to be a vegetarian).
P4G on the vita is the ultimate gaming experience. You can play P4 on the go, virtually anywhere and at anytime on a sweat ass screen. Also its like 70+ hr game, I got more value out of playing P4G on the vita this year than I have playing my 360 in the last 2 years. It is easily in my top 5 games of all time, might be even higher have not thought about it too deeply.
@cbarnes86: Seeing how much people love this game should be enough for you to at least check it out. Other than that, since you already enjoy some other rpg, just jump in.
You can relieve your high school power fantasy of picking up all the popular chicks at school and solving mysteries with your own little Mystery Gang.
Plus there's this guy, your own personal Scooby Doo, who'll supply you with 'magical leaves.' Now you tell me if that's not a selling point.
Um, delightful characters, interesting story, pretty fun gameplay, wonderful side activities, and did I mention delightful characters?
Nanako is the best child character in gaming. FUCK Clementine. I said it.
Every Day's Great at Your Junes!

Those magical leaves were not worth that god damn fishing quest. Who am I kidding, I could never stay angry at that fox.
Some of the best video game music ever, I can listen to the soundtrack (both the original and Golden) all day. But really, the characters are what makes the game truly special.
Went on and picked it up today, although it is a rather large download and I have shitty internet. Thanks for everyone who posted here. I knew I would get it eventually, just wasn't sure when the right time was. I'm getting ready to travel a lot for Thanksgiving and figured this would be a great way to kill some time. I'm super excited to play it and again, thank you duders! (Also, Soul Sacrifice went free today on PS Plus)
@cbarnes86: Have fun! its a doozy.
