I'm not that interested in the PSV, I think it's a cool idea but I'm not sure yet. As a huge SMT fan, is it worth getting a PSV just to play P4G?

#2 Posted by scarace360 (4828 posts) -

hell yes buy whatever you need to play SMT games.

Any way you look at it, no it's not. That literally translates to "Is it worth paying more than $300 for a 40-60 dollar game. No it's not.

#4 Posted by SmasheControllers (2542 posts) -

@Knave: $300, I thought the Vita was only $250?

#5 Posted by jetsetwillie (857 posts) -

this is one of those 'only you can really answer' questions. only you know how much value you put on that one game.

do you think its worth it?

#6 Posted by McGhee (6091 posts) -

@SmasheControllers: Lumines is going to be really awesome too.

#7 Edited by SmasheControllers (2542 posts) -

@McGhee: See that's the thing although I only want to get P4G, there'll be more games coming for the system. But $250 + Importing the game is money I could spend to upgrade/fix my PC.

DAMN IT! I DON'T KNOW!!!

That would be crazy.

It's not even out, how would we know

You also need to buy the memory card if you want to save your game.

#11 Edited by AndrewB (7190 posts) -

Dear lord, no. If you want to play Persona 4 so badly, just buy the original game. You can friggin' youtube the extra added stuff. No single game is worth a console purchase.

Tell me you're going to buy 5 other launch games for the system and I might give a different opinion, but I hope you have a lot of money.

#12 Posted by endaround (2129 posts) -

@Knave: No you can save without a memory card. You only really need a memory card if you buy downloadable games. Yes Sony making it hard for you to buy games directly from them is insane.

That's interesting, i had no idea. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

#14 Posted by AlisterCat (5398 posts) -

For me, yes. Other games I'm interested in will come in time.

#15 Posted by Valkyr (667 posts) -

P4G and Uncharted:Golden Abyss

#16 Posted by endaround (2129 posts) -

@Knave: Well at least that is what I heard last that it has 1-2 GB free on board for game saves.

#17 Posted by DarthOrange (3497 posts) -

Only if you interested in at least five other games. Dropping around $300 for one game is like buying a 2,000 dollar racing wheel and seat just to play forza 4.

#18 Posted by Winternet (7936 posts) -

Let me put it this way: EVERYTHING is worth getting for playing Persona 4.

#19 Posted by Mcfart (1425 posts) -

IMO, totally. Hopefully there will be other good games as well, to justify the $300.

#20 Posted by MaFoLu (1854 posts) -

If P4G is the only game you are interested in for the system, I don't think that sounds like a great idea.
Unless you have enough money that it doesn't really matter that you spend that much money for one game, and take a chance on whether more games you are interested in will be released later.

I bought a 3DS pretty much for Zelda OoT 3D, but then I also got 20 free games...

Some games like Uncharted require the memory card. Persona 4: The Golden could be one of those games.

And I think it's not worth it to buy a handheld for that much money just for one game.

Im not buying one on launch, whenever P4 comes out (HOPING FOR A PRICE CUT) its inevitable, if its p4 related, I'm buying it. The thing is its not just a straight up port, i mean playing as a girl just makes it way more interesting.

#23 Edited by Vexxan (4598 posts) -

You'll need a Vita for the inevitable Persona 5: Portable :)

You won't be able to play as a girl in P4: Golden...

which makes me iffy on getting the game, cause tbh that was all i wanted... though the addition of Marie may make me try it, I quit playing the ps2 one and now it's being borrowed, so..we'll see.
#26 Posted by TwilitEnd656 (617 posts) -

Hmm... If you were to run into other games you weren't aware of along the line, yes, I'd say it is. But literally just for P4G... It's still a close call to me.

#27 Posted by laserbolts (5309 posts) -

Of course not. Buying a $250 handheld to play a game that is already out on ps2 is pretty dumb. If you have the money though go for it.

Persona 3 Portable was not great. That may be indicative of P4G or maybe not.

Do you really need a mobile version of P4?

#29 Posted by Chris2KLee (2308 posts) -

From what I've seen, I don't feel they are changing enough to justify buying a new console for it.

#30 Edited by GetEveryone (4454 posts) -

Is it worth hundreds of dollars to play a single game?

No.

#31 Posted by Mr_Skeleton (5117 posts) -

Vita + memory card + person = $300+

Do you think it's worth it?

It was a respectable version for the limitations of that platform, P4G includes all the PS2 stuff and more, so it's not really right to judge it based on P3P.

Day one.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

#34 Edited by JeanLuc (3518 posts) -

Not for me. I love Persona 4 but I already played that game twice and the vita doesn't have many other games to make buying the device worth it for me.

I just want Persona to be on my HD consoles :(

#35 Posted by TehFlan (1944 posts) -

Is it worth buying a Vita so you can play a PS2 game?

#36 Posted by Ben_H (3200 posts) -

Just buy a used PS2 and get a copy of Persona 4 (and while you're at it get P3, and any other PS2 exclusives you are interested in. I bought Sly Cooper and a few other games when I bought a PS2 a couple years ago). Overall cost will be still less than half the cost of a Vita alone and you will get more games.

#37 Edited by ProfessorEss (7123 posts) -

Replace P4G with "Any one game ever made or being made" and I still say hells no.

#38 Posted by doomguy64 (18 posts) -

Depends if you have money to spend or not if you are only planning to purchase it for one game. I for one wanna be an early adopter for the handheld, looking forward to uncharted. However I started P4 a year or so ago and never really got into it, might give it a second chance on the PSV with this version of it.

#39 Posted by Hector (3346 posts) -

I'd say wait until the price goes down and there is a library of games to play on the Vita.

#40 Posted by PolygonSlayer (416 posts) -

I'm afraid I would have to say yes to this question. At least it's not a launch game so hopefully the price of the PSV will drop by then like it did with the 3DS :P

#41 Posted by the_r0n1n_named_47 (158 posts) -

..... do it me and my wife are gonna thats roughly $500 for 2 vitas, and without the vita games... but we have psp/ps1 games too so it works :D

I agree with this. See what other games get offered later and see if there are any that will interest. Although I want to get for that damn Lumines so maybe I should shut up.

#43 Posted by Neurotic (631 posts) -

By the time P4G comes to Europe, I expect the Vita will have dropped in price and will have a couple more games I want so I probably will get one for P4G just like I got a PSP for P3P. I wouldn't get one at launch just to wait for P4G though.

#44 Posted by dagas (2711 posts) -

From what I've seen it's not that much new compared to the original game. I would not buy a console to play a slightly different version of a game I've played several times.

#45 Posted by Apparatus_Unearth (3031 posts) -

This game is getting me really interested in the PSV.

#46 Posted by hurtfulmadmax (68 posts) -

If this port gets a US dub and release, I will gladly shell out the money for a new handheld.

I hope it doesn't turn out like P3P (lack of cutscenes/animations).

#47 Edited by Vyse (74 posts) -

I don't think it's worth buying PSV just for P4G. The game doesn't look like it will have a whole lot of extra content and it looks exactly like the PS2 version so why not just get that for $20. Now, if there are more games you're interested in that are coming out on the Vita then I say "Go for it!"

Also, I think P3P is probably the best version of P3 even without the cut scenes or superior graphics. All the mechanics they added from P4 totally make it worth it.

#48 Posted by Daroki (704 posts) -

I generally want a 5 game limit to convince me to buy a console. P4G by itself isn't enough to do it, but when I combine it with things like Wipeout, Lumines, Uncharted, and Gravity Daze then we're talking.

#49 Posted by Commisar123 (1786 posts) -

I'd say no, but I do love me some P4 and I might fall for it.
