Persona 5 Preview Trailer 1
So from that one fight we saw it looks like the crew of P5 wont be fighting shadows but demons/personas as Sandmen seemed to be the enemy from the fight we saw
I hate to sound like a downer, but I hope the PS4 version gets another pass of AA for those jaggies.
That aside though, I love the settings, the anarchist-motif and the overall fun vibe. Even the UI looks stylish as fuck.
Hella cool, hella excited.
I just love that they took a risk and changed so much. I was afraid they'd stick to old formulas, but no. It's a new generation and it's time to evolve.
This game is so freaking confident in what it is. It has such a clear identity. This is the kind of thing I'd like to see in Western games.
@aegon: I mean, they seem to have changed how dungeon exploration works, but that's about all the gameplay change we got out of that trailer.
It's been 8 or 9 years of Persona 3 and 4. Dungeon exploration is a big change.

There's also the whole henshin thing.

Yes and here's a bombshell...Social Links don't appear in the menus shown. Something called "Cooperation" does. It could just be hidden somewhere else though.

I don't think they showed the battle interface either (unless I missed it). Possibly changing that too?
Was that Vincent from Catherine locked up behind bars or was that the P5 MC?
That was the P5 MC.
@probablytuna: That was the MC.
Also, I hope I don't jinx it, but thank God, no Persona 4 characters seen in that trailer.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's something similar to the Tatsumi field trip in P4 where you see some of the side characters slightly older.

Don't worry! I'm sure Naoto will show up and scold the P5 cast for being Cat Burglars/Criminals/Delinquents.
The cameos write themselves at this point.
@aegon: I don't rember if S-links appered on the menue of P3/P4 before they were unlock for the stroy so it is possible that the demo were seeing might not have the S-link trigger unlocked, but how knows really.
I posted this in the stream thread but whatever:
The stinger makes it seem like the characters transform into their personas rather than summoning them, Hibiki style.
So Persona 5 is also Digital Devil Saga 3?
Alright.
Anyway, stuff I noticed.
-Demons/Persona being the enemy in battle (Sandman and Pyro Jack)
-No mention of S. Links in the menu, maybe replaced by Co-operation? Regardless, I'd actually be happy if they have decided to scrap the system in lieu of something that is better paced.
-Velvet room is a velvet cell?
-Our MC is the Joker, probably.
-My hype levels rising.
-Seemingly (at least, for now), cutting all ties with P4 and 3. This is a good thing.
-Our MC is the Joker, probably.
The Fool is also known as The Jester and The Fool and The Joker are both wildcards. Ergo the MC is still The Fool, as usual.
@rafaelfc: Remember when this game was coming out in Winter 2014?
Those were the days!

Yo, that looks awesome.
Giant bomb really needs to do another Endurance run for this, we should get a petition signed or something.
Here's an mp3 of the song in the trailer! https://mega.co.nz/#!pMpj1YxR!Z3fuEbGrBeMODZX3pqveWYL1vHHi47GjJq1oAkdLJv8
They're changing up dungeons! Awesome! That's one of the things that I really wanted them to do with this installment. That doesn't mean they aren't random hallways, but there was some jumping and stuff (kinda looked automatic, Ocarina-of-Time/Arkham-style) so maybe there will be more than just running down the same tiles over and over.
The rest of it looks pretty great and slick and stylish. This has made me excited for P5 again!
Also, as others have said, they don't seem to be using P4 to sell this game at all. I won't mind a cameo or two (get Funky Student in there as a logic teacher - Funky Teacher!) but I'd rather not see the P4 cast all that much. Ideally, we'll get nothing more from the main cast of P3 and 4 than an offhand comment acknowledging that this is the same universe.
Is it just me, or does it seem like there's only four main characters? The MC, not-Yosuke, a cat-thing, and some girl? That's fine with me, but it's a pretty big contrast from P3 and 4's larger cast of dungeon-crawling cohorts.
I don't think this game is coming out in the west in 2015, guys.
Japan is getting it this year if we don't get delay so I have not been keeping up but Atlus USA have confirmed at least twice this was going west in 2015. At least once at PSX. Also more info. coming in the next Famitsu.
P.S. S.link was never called S.link in japan. It was more something along the line of "community" instead. I assume "cooperation" menu is what replaces it.

It's much more likely that they just aren't revealing the rest of the cast yet.
@sweep: According to ATLUS and Sony Persona 5 is coming stateside in 2015, so you don't have to!
Stylish video and very distinct music as always but man does that coat look dumb in gameplay. Also, still no default female MC.
I hate to break it to you, but I sincerely doubt Atlus will take another shot at a FeMC again considering all the complications with canon that happened with P3 and Arena, as well the amount of work it takes (which sucks because FeMC in P3 portable was awesome :(-maybe in the inevitable portable release of this we'll get something similiar)
I'm in love with the style so fucking much. I can't get over how stylish everything is. Too much styyyyyyyyyyle to handle. So slick.
Also, for anyone wondering, it's not the Catherine engine, it's a custom made engine designed to look like Catherine.
It's like Durarara!! the video game, and I'm so excited. I also love how all of the Persona games just stick with the funky bg music.
