Phantasy Star Online 2 isn't out yet, bit weird to see it winning.

Those who grew up with 8-bit and 16-bit systems probably had a JRPG franchise that they really loved.  It seems like a lot of people really loved Final Fantasy and for good reason.  But, as a Sega kid, my JRPG of choice was Phantasy Star.  There were a lot of great games in this franchise but everyone has their favorites.  I'm interested in seeing what game the Giantbomb community deems to be the best in the series.

I boiled my choice down to two games: Phantasy Star II and IV.  I ended up going with IV because I thought it took what made II great (a good storyline and fighting system) and built upon in meaningful ways (bigger scale, better graphics, side quests, etc).  Plus, it was an easier game for me to play as a kid so it was easier for me to get hooked by it.

It isn't?  Truth be told, I'm not that up to date on the Phantasy Star games beyond the first 'online' game.  So, I used this site and some online sources to try and make an exhaustive list.  Looks like I made a mistake.

I played Phantasy Star II for an hour or two, and it was pretty good.

    I guess that's my favorite.
