Pikmin

Pikmin are the titular creatures in Nintendo's strategy series who help the main characters perform a number of different tasks. As of the most recent installment, there are five different colors of Pikmin, each with their own unique abilities.

Sidekick

Mario has Luigi and Sonic has Tails. Sidekicks change game play or just add a two player mode.

The ultimate pressure feature. You have to complete the task at hand, be it finishing your opponent or cutting the right wire, in the allotted time.

Familliar Horde

A horde of allied creatures under your control helps you in this game.

3D

Who needs 2D when we've got 3D? 3D, or 3 dimensions, is what we're used to seeing in almost every game these days, letting us do all sorts of awesome stuff like run in circles!

Artificial Life (A-life)

Artificial Life is a video game concept in which beings or creatures are put into the same environment that player is in. Depending on how the player interacts with these virtual creatures (who are programmed with emotions, wants, and needs) and the world around him/her, the Artificial Life will reflect that through their behavior.

Partners

A partner is someone in a duo that shares the same status and/or billing. In video games, you often switch from one to the other because they have different strengths and weaknesses.

Adorable Mass Slaughter

Any game featuring creatures or people that could be described as cute, then having them killed in huge numbers. Key example: the Lemmings series.

Boss Fight

A boss fight is a culminating challenge that pits the player against one or more enemies representing a greater threat and/or difficulty than those previously faced. These scenarios typically feature unique antagonists.

Purple Character

Characters whose "skin" (not their clothing, etc) is primarily purple, which is some combination of both red and blue.

Totaka's Song

Totaka's Song is a hidden easter egg in a number of Nintendo's games dating back to the early 1990s. It can typically be accessed by waiting for a set period of time at a specific place.

Cooperative Play

Cooperative play in games allows humans to play together as a team to accomplish a task. Instead of playing against a human opponent, the team must defeat an AI.
