Pikmin 2

On December 2001, Nintendo Miyamato (The Legend behind Mario and Zelda) made a game about kiddy aliens. What we didn't know was that their destination point is our world, and they're extremely tiny! Another fact is that this was set in his own Garden! Pikmin 2 sets off after the first Pikmin. After escaping from the strange planet, we call Earth; Captain Olimar goes back to his home planet. When he lands there, he discovers that his planet is in major debt. One of the bottle caps he used for the ship is worth 100 coins. Knowing this, Olimar must go back and bring 10,000 coins to save his planet. This time you're not alone... You've got Louie, Olimar's assistant.

Once you go to "Earth" you discover that its winter and you lost your mate, Louie. You've got to find Louie and return to save your planet. You get attacked by an ant. Luckily, you’re local Pikmin save the day. Now you've got to control Louie and get him to where Olimar is. While you're going you bump into an Onion, where the Pikmin live. Gathering Mushrooms, you can make more Pikmin. After that you're joined with Olimar. Together you've got to use strategies to make 10,000 coins!

You can zoom in while you're playing the game, so it's easier to play. You've got a whistle to control the Pikmin, and you can use the C-Stick to make them form shapes. You can throw them by pressing A, and they attack enemies in sight. If they get in your way you can press Y to regroup them. This game fixes all the loose ends with the first one, making a kick ass, fun game, which is funny too!

Pikmin Takes place on a strange planet known to us as earth. Pikmin 2 is light hearted sequel to the first which vastly improves on alot of things. The first and most notable is the removal of the timer. No longer do you have only so many days to complete your quest allowing you more time to explore and simply mess around in the differant areas. Each overworld contains a series of dungeons containing many Quircky items such as the thirst quencher a 7-up bottlecap or a Dream Architecht Which is a game and watch and at the end of each dungeon is a boss which provides quite a challenge for even the most advanced player. each dungeon provides differant obsticles which requires you to take a mixture of differant colored pikmin to accomplish a task. For example one level of the cavern may consist of many fire based enemies so taking red pikmin with you is your best option and the next level may be water based making blue ones a requirement. There are 6 differant types of pikmin. Blue which can swim and fight most effectivly against water based enemies. Red ones which fight best in general and can walk through fire. Yellow which fly farthest when thrown and withstand electric attacks. Purple ones are stronger than regular pikmin and can lift heavier objects much easier but at the cost of being heavier and slower.White ones which can withstand poisen attacks, when eaten damage enemies and can find objects underground. And the last is actually a breed of pikmin that infect bulborbs  which can withstand electicity,fire,water,and poisen. Now let me xplain the basic gameplay elements of pikmin. You play as Capt Olimar and his partner louie set to pay off the debt that the company Olimar works for owes. So you meet with your pikmin friends in there spaceship called an onion. Now the main point of the game is to kill enemies and collect pellets and take them to the onion which will create more pikmin for you to take on your journies. The story I suppose is as good as a story can get for a game of this type. But this isnt the type of game you play for story.

Pikmin 2 is a game that makes you think. Whether it's figuring out how to get your cute but dangerous little buddies across a lake without them drowning, or how to get to a treasure seemingly out of reach you are always thinking about what to do next.

I'm sure this game isn't for everyone but I for one loved it! The Pikmin themselves look like cute little pets but when you send them after an enemy they turn into bloodthirsty little creatures that are capable of knocking down sold walls and things 10X their own size. I also like how the creaters brought about how to make new Pikmin with onions or by throwing them into flowers. You can also let them drink nectar or spray them for more power.

The treasure system is also very well done, giving common househeld items strange names to make them more intersting (And Olimar or Louie also make a little diary entry for every treausre you find), Some treasures are buried underground where only your white Pikmins can find them, and some of them are in the water where only your blue's can get them.

The creatures are also creative and very well down and you need a certain strategy to kill most of them.

I'd just like to say I've never played the priginal Pikin and Overall Pikmin 2 isn't a game for everyone and there are some minor flaws but it isn't enough to stop me from giving this game a good review.
