So i'd say i'm a pretty big Left 4 Dead fan, loved the coop, still one of my go to games on the 360, and apparently a TI3 Tour Group taking pictures of Stuff over at Valve snapped a image of Source 2 and Left 4 Dead 3 mentioned by name.

I'd buy this Day 1 when ever it comes out.

I don't get why people like this series. It's not often I'm harsh on a game, but I think L4D really sucks. Running around with weapons that all feel like BB guns, shooting at zombies that all feel like cardboard, can only be fun for that long.

Seriously, L4D has some truly terrible weapon physics.

I'm sure everything people expect has a name has a name at Valve but it doesn't really mean much.

I was way into L4D 1 and 2. I'll probably get this on the console. I know it's not extensible like the PC versions but for Left 4 Dead I never really cared. Also the original games never worked well on my old laptops and since my new one is an Ultrabook I wouldn't hold my breath given that I'd imagine Source 2 is a new version of the Source Engine focused on Next Gen Hardware and Mid Range PCs. Hopefully it's also friendly to integrated low voltage chips but I doubt it.

Prediction: Source engine 2 and Left 4 Dead 3 will be announced at gamescom. After they come out, we'll get either Portal 3 announced or a brand new ip announced.

A decade later, Source Engine 3 will come out and Half-Life 3 will be announced HOWEVER... it will be released in episodes

Haha. Cool. Like another user said though, because Valve is so big on experimentation, I bet all of the games we would expect to be are at Valve in some form or another. The question is whether or not they will be released. I'm more happy to see the source 2 thing. That engine has been showing its age in the last couple games they put out.

Yeah! Those bastards making some of the best-in-genre games that are constantly updated, tweaked, and incorporate mods and real content from their loving communities... for free. Not like the good ol' days when, um, that stuff didn't happen.

Not anymore. I guess it took me a while to get it since it's been forever since I last played L4D, or any Valve game.

Actually it's Left 4 Dota 3. You know, that Left 4 Dead/Dota crossover that everybody has been clamoring for?

The guns just doesn't act like guns. Sure, they don't in most games, but at least they feel authentic in a lot of games, even if they're not realistic. The weapons in L4D feel weak, with basically no recoil, bad sound effects and enemies that are about as responsive as cardboard. There's just no weight to anything in the game. It feels so... light.

@legion_: Yeah, come to think of it I guess you're right about the no recoil thing. But the rest of your stuff is the sort of thing I never notice much in games, unless it is so poor as to be comical.

Pretty much agree with everything you said but it sounds like you had a little fun with it. I was lttp with this game and thinks its completely overrated. The zombies in this game are the ultimate fodder enemy, rushing out of monster closets for me to mow down with a pea shooter. That doesn't mean I wouldn't welcome a third game that fixes my gripes. More than anything Valve has fooled people into thinking this L4D2 is still relevant as a coop shooter with constant updates and community support, but the game is dated and needs an update badly.

You seriously can't expect them to design a game engine around running on an Ultrabook a device that is designed to be a low power consumption work horse for office work with little to no ability to push 3d rendered scenes. Its like designing a network setup for thousands of business machines and then loading that software on a Linksys N300 router and expecting it to be able to handle the network load, it is just simply not designed nor intended for that function.

I'll admit that they kind of fucked up TF2 because the hats just make the whole game look super uggo, but whatever. TF2 is still really well made on a gameplay level, and it did have a good 2-3 years where it legitimately earned gamers' adoration through all the Meet The Team videos and free updates, before they fucked it all up with hats and crates.

Something happened with L4D2 which made it more "hard core" and a lot less fun to mess around in compared to L4D. It is okay that if I play with random people in a "Quick Match" that it comes up with a match with serious settings that I have to accept or abandon but kind of unacceptable to build a team of family that I know aren't that great at games let alone FPS games let alone seen L4D2, set it on the lowest difficulty and can't even get halfway in any scenario we tried.

One year we were drinking and laughing in L4D while a tank would punt me off the roof of the hospital. The next year when L4D2 came out we gave up and played Catan (the real world board game) instead because it got boring and aggravating to be stuck in same spots. I'm all for a new L4D3 but they lost the magic somewhere and I really wish they would get it back.
