As we all know, pistols are the best part about a shooting game.  I mean, it's usually the first firearm you get in a game, and most of them are viable all the way to the end of your gameplay time.  So the question here is, what is the most famous pistol ever?  Let's find a DEFINITIVE pistol.

Yeah but the golden gun is actually Goldfinger's, not James Bond's. It also only appears once in the movies, whereas the PP7 is in every 007 movie and game."

Glock. It appears in a load of games in one form or another.

Hard to say, the Desert Eagle gets a lot of showtime because it's big and flashy. Bond's PP7 is pretty obvious... there's always Dirty Harry's .44 Magnum revolver.

Lara Croft's twin pistols (whatever model they are suppoesed to be), although they may not be relevant as of late.

Perhaps the single action army that Revolver Ocelots uses, though he carries two.

Wait, how does the Dead Space plasma cutter qualify as on of the most famous pistols? The game has been out for only five days now and just all of a sudden it beats out the revolver? I'm disappointed.

Alright, again, you people are trying to talk about REAL guns.  I'm talking about IN-GAME guns.

metal gear's SOCOM and Ebony & Ivory for me personally. The Glock 34 also from Dino Crisis.

Glad to see people who like handguns in games! i always feel they are over shadowed by, well, you know, "everyones favourites" i love it when they get some spotlight, since they are my favourite type of firearm, revolvers specifically.

As for whats the definitive one in games? thats tough...

What's the name of that really badass revolver from Gears of War? It's not the main pistol, it's another one that will swiss-cheese a motherfucker in only a couple of shots.

I completely forgot the pistols in FEAR, they're epic in dual-weilding mode

In the videogame world, the Desert Eagle is by far the most famous. 
In the real world, it's hard to beat a good 'ol GI 1911.
 
I don't like Glocks, they just don't feel right to me, and the "safe actcion" trigger is anything but safe.
Berettas are ok, but I think we made a bad move by replacing the 1911 with it. Like stated above, the DA/SA trigger feels odd and there are lots of reliability problems. Not to mention, the first M92s that where issued had the slide blowing off after only a few hundred rounds... if memory serves me right, a few SEALs got pretty messed up during the M9 testing in the mid 80's.
