if you really really want to, you can buy your way into the beta now by joining THE ALPHA SQUAD. you get an XP boost and some other stuff. if it was a little cheaper i might give it a wirel, but seeing as im still unsure about this game i think im going to pass. thoughts?

I'm pretty sure it's more of a buy the game and get into the beta right away and not a spend 40 on getting in the beta, so for someone who was going to buy it anyway it's not that bad of a deal

There's no game to buy, It's f2p. Nothing in the pack really stands out to me though.

I wound up biting the bullet.

Wanted new stuff to play on my new PC.

Never played the original Planetside so I don't know what's different exactly aside from looking vastly prettier and I'm not one to over-analyze things.

But I can say it's been fun and the scale is rather impressive.

I'd be totally in on this if it was $20 instead of $40. I'm not willing to spend that much on a game I might not like.

The package also contains "4000 Station Cash": their free to play cash (which I think works in multiple SOE games?) - which supposedly is $40 on it's own.

+ Unlocks, camo, title... and beta access.

Considering that pretty much anyone who ever payed for Planetside has already gotten beta access in the first waves (assuming they filled out their beta profile, I guess?), most of the "loyal fans" should be in already, and there are apparently a lot of Beta keys floating around twitter, PCGamer and IGN.

Sounds like a situation of the beta being the least interesting thing, really.

I might get it... but I'm a bit concerned about the whole ProSieben.1.Games bit for EU. (more the concept than the company).

10% xp boost for 6 months isn't worth it. 40 bucks for microtransaction stuff when I do not want to buy my way.. meh. I'll put that money into a different game instead.

The way titles work in the game now just makes it harder to see your player name in the world. It'll say "Founder YourName". Just like it says "Corporal YourName". I usually just use No Title for my name to be the only thing hovering above my character.

It's like TF2 free to play, you get the actual game for free and can choose to buy extra things if you want.
