Overview
Initially calling themselves Seeds Inc., the company changed its name to PlatinumGames Inc. after a merger with ODD Corporation. It was started by video game industry luminaries Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba, and Hideki Kamiya after Capcom closed down their previous venture, Clover Studio, which was known for such games as God Hand and Okami. PlatinumGames currently has a 4 game publishing deal with Sega.
Games in Development
In early 2008 they announced 3 of their 4 games coming as a result of the Sega partnership. The first is MadWorld, an extremely violent, yet stylized 3D beat 'em up with humor elements. The second is Bayonetta, which is Hideki Kamiya's return to the 3D action game genre. With what's been released so far it seems to be a spirtiual successor to Devil May Cry. The third game is a collaboration with developer Nude Maker with the space-themed RPG Infinite Space. Following suit with Steel Battalion, another Nude Maker title, there will be a tons of customizable options available. All of these are due out in 2009.
The fourth game coming from PlatinumGames is going to be directed by Shinji Mikami, but no other details other than that have been announced.

PlatinumGames has a video podcast that goes behind-the-scenes of current games they're developing. Hosted by JP Kellams, the show has interviews with various employees working on their titles. It is available via iTunes or RSS feed.
The spirit of Clover Studio lives on in PlatinumGames, a development house started by ex-Clover employees.
