Overview
Playdead was originally formed in 2006 under the name Underholdningsbranchen ApS ("Entertainment Business" in Danish.) Publishers and foreigners apparently had trouble pronouncing this, so the name was changed firstly to Limbo ApS and then finally to it's current moniker, Playdead, at beginning of 2009.
Our goal is to develop challenging games and experiences for a broad audience of serious gamers.
Their first game, Limbo, is a sidescroller platformer for the Xbox 360. The game received very high reviews due to the dark atmosphere and graphical presentation.
Playdead's second game, Inside, wwas first described by a Danish newspaper as a spiritual sequel to Limbo. It is a 2.5D Platform game, using three dimensional graphics while the playfield remains in two dimensions, and utilizes the Unity engine rather than the proprietary one they built for Limbo.
