so Im currently traveling around Australia with my girlfriend who is from the land down under (Im British by the way) were now staying in her home town for the next few months and i am starting to get the shakes from lack of gaming apart from my 3DS.

so i thought it would be a good idea to buy a second hand PS2, now I've played most of the classic PS2 games

so i want some suggestions of games that were good but not many people played thanks....

i picked up POP sands of time with it, as i never played that at the time, not that obscure i know

I thought the Transformers (Energon not The Movie) game was a solid third-person shooter. Not sure if a lot of people have played that. I haven't gotten far into Shinobi, but what I've played was enjoyable too.

Those are the only PS2 games I've played recently.

Edit: Ah, Sands of Time! That should be a fun one!

yeah my friend played that transformer game at the time and said it weren't bad, might give that a go

If you can find it, which you probably can't, Yakuza 1+2 are pretty good.

God Hand is an amazing 3D beat 'em up with dynamic difficulty that keeps adjusting to your skill level, Project Zero and its sequels are excellent horror games (the second installment is especially scary), Viewtiful Joe is a great 2D action game with fun special powers and Okami is aesthetically incredible enough that it's enjoyable despite being ridiculously easy.

First thing I thought of was Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts: Covenant.

@Icemael: yes i love the viewtiful joe games, i completely forgot about okami don't know how will try and hunt that down

would project zero be hard to get hold of?

edit: also have played God Hand that game is crazy...

Persona 3 and SSX 3 are my recommendations if you haven't played them yet.

Persona 4 seems to be all the rage on the PS2 these days. Never played it, but you could check it out.

God of War 1 and 2 don't get old very easily. You've probably already played them, but they don't get old.

Ratchet and Clank 2 and 3 don't get old either. Also the Jak and Daxter games.

Silent Hill 2, I hear, is quite a good game.

The original Half-Life is on PS2.

The original Deus Ex was ported to PS2, though I don't know if it was gimped or not.

I liked Goldeneye Rogue Agent way back when.

Ico/Shadow of the Colossus if you haven't yet.

Mega Man X Collection, if you want something classic and awesome.

The other two POP games, of course.

Devil May Cry 3 is nuckin' futs.

Dragonball Z Budokai 3 is a fun little fighter.

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.

Gran Turismo 4

Grand Theft Auto III/Vice City/San Andreas/Liberty City Stories

...well, there's a good variety of pretty much everything. You ought to be able to find something in there to your tastes.

yes, everyone does. and for fun robot time Zone of the Enders 2. the 2 is important here. good time, and ssx tricky or 3 are good choices

As someone who refused to buy these cause I thought it was disgraceful to use the Shining Force name for an action game,(I know it's dumb, I was young and stupid) are these games actually good? I've been trying to track these down recently and finally play them.

It's not terribly amazing, but you should totally play God Hand if you can find it. That game was just plain silly.

I've only played one of them and it's pretty damn good. They also have a tactical RPG out called Shining Tears.

Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect.Shadow of the Colossus and The Warriors are also fantastic.

thanks for all the recommendations more than enough great games mentioned here to keep me going for a few months. it really is crazy how many great games there are for the PS2, surely it has to be the greatest console of them at the just on its catalog alone?

@pw2566ch: Yes I want to pick that up as well. I have played the Shining Soul series which are pretty decent dungeon-crawlers for the GBA.

@Redbullet685: YES the Timesplitters series is one of my all time favorites, so many long multiplayer sessions with my mates back in the day

Oh dude there are so many great PS2 games, I could recommend a whole mess of games but I'll give you a few that you may not know about.
