Hi I have this old broken PS2 i'm looking to repair and play games on so i'm looking for some PS2 games that are actually exclusive to the console e.g. not available as a remake on PS Vita, PS3 or PS4 and not available as a classic on PSN on PSP, PS Vita, PS3 or PS4, and not available for other platforms!

Preferably not sports games except extreme sports, preferably good games that would still be enjoyable, preferably some co-op titles?

    Cheers in advance

Also if the game in question is best on PS2 but available on Xbox, Gamecube or Wii it's allowed, or an older platform like N64 and Playstation it's allowed!

The no remake/rerelease stipulation narrows it down considerably. Final Fantasy XII is the one that comes to mind that hasn't come out elsewhere.

Final Fantasy XII and Dragon Quest VIII still aren't available on any other platform as far as I know. Gran Turismo 3 and 4. The Mega Man Anniversary and Mega Man X Collections aren't available on newer platforms yet (both were on Gamecube, but the PS2 version of Mega Man Anniversary didn't have the shoot and jump controls in the wrong places). Ratchet Deadlocked and Jak X are both pretty good and still unavailable on PSN.

EDIT: Is Dark Cloud available on PSN? What about Rogue Galaxy?

    EDIT: This might help you:

Have fun playing Eyetoy Antigrav. (Don't buy an Eyetoy).

The Ace Combat games 4, 5 and 0 are some of my favourite games of all time. They are japanese arcadey flight jet simulator (?) games with stories that I enjoy, and gameplay that is simple but fun and satisfying.

The yakuza games on ps2 never got an HD remasters from what I know. The second one is very hard to find though and sells for upwards of 50 bucks on ebay. 80 if you want it new.

@rongalaxy: They got remasters but never outside of Japan, still annoyed that it isn't out here for WiiU but after 5 wasn't localized I'm not surprised.

@believer258: I bought an Eye Toy when it came out and it was the same kind of reaction the Wii got when I showed my non-gaming family members for the first time. ALSO ANTIGRAV IS AWESOME!

I remember it controlling terribly. My parents actually bought it for me for the same reason - they thought it was cool. I just didn't much care.

@believer258: Oh hehe i meant cos its on PSN not cos its bad :)

@believer258: Deadlocked is $10 on PSN

Ah, well, I didn't know that. I thought they just HD-ified the first three games and left Deadlocked and Size Matters out. By the way, Size Matters is on the PS2. It's a kind of OK Ratchet game? But I remember it being short on the PSP. You definitely don't want to play the PSP version.

@believer258: I think that DQ VIII is on mobile.

Which still means that the PS2 is the only reasonable platform on which to play DQVIII. To be fair, a JRPG that tries to evoke an old-school feel with a 3D world probably is more playable on a touch screen than, say, Grand Theft Auto III, but I still can't imagine trying to play something like that on a phone.

I think Cold Winter was PS2 exclusive? Pretty late PS2 release, just as the PS3/360 were being released, but it's one of the best FPSes I've played on that console. Some really cool environment interaction, such as letting you flip over tables for cover and stuff.

And of course the PS2 Ace Combat games are all fantastic, and still hold up quite well visually today.

Oh, and Champion of Norrath. My favorite Diablo style game, made by the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance people, and in that vein but with online multiplayer (which still works, if you've got the network adapter, but there's also three player local co-op), set in the EverQuest world with more character classes, slightly better gameplay (you can actually aim with the ranged weapons now, instead of just shooting blindly hoping to hit something), and a much bigger world than Dark Alliance.

Radiata Stories - a pretty, neat little JRPG with recruiting mechanics akin to the Suikoden series, with many memorable, genuinely likable characters

Steambot Chronicles - another rather light-hearted JRPG in which you control a "Trotmobile" (basically a mecha) for the most part; there's also a rhythm game aspect to it as the main character is traveling the world with his band

I liked both of those a whole lot back in the day.

Ace Combat 4 and Ace Combat Zero

oh good, I'm not the first one to have mentioned them. They are fantastic games.

Ace Combat 5 is also exclusive, but the game is much worse than the other two, and the dialogue is cringeworthy.

A lot of those mobile ports have controller options. My brother in law played through GTAIII on Android using a Dual Shock 3 when he was at sea. He said it was fine. Not everybody is gonna be in this situation where you've got an extended amount of down time on the go, but it's good for a small percentage of folks.

I just meant playing it on a touch screen. If there's support for some kind of controller and you can reasonably play it then, sure, go for it. But playing a game with a separate controller while looking at a phone screen still sounds uncomfortable.

If I could prop up a tablet and play it with a controller, though, that would be all right. But, again, that's kind of a fringe thing. In any case, DQVIII is still probably best played on a PS2, which is what the OP wanted. (Actually on an emulator, but that doesn't really count).

    Some that come to mind:

    1. Dark Cloud (2)
    2. .hack (not good but exclusive)
    3. Some of the Arc the Lad games
    4. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
    5. BoF V
    6. Suikoden III (and any that came after I guess)
    7. Xenosaga series
    8. Onimusha (someone mentioned already)
    9. That terrible (sorta hilarious) Lupin III game

I think those are all exclusive and not on PSN. There are some others that come to mind like the SOCOM games but those are largely multiplayer from what I remember and not worth touching this far out out.

EDIT: There's also some I can think of that other people mentioned earlier and some others like earlier Dynasty Warriors and Phantom Brave where they're technically exclusive but there are alternatives which give you pretty much the same experience.

OP said if its best on PS2 but came out on Xbox, GameCube etc. It was allowed.

THPS3 is the best on PS2 as the controller is better suited for it. And the online still works. (Edited: Wrong video).

Spiderman 2, fair enough. The platform differences are minor. (If any.)

Man, NA PSN gets everything. The AUS PSN (Which I assume is the same as EU) doesn't even have Persona 4, just Persona 4 Golden. It's a good thing I got a physical copy of Persona 4 at a reasonable price way earlier. Oh well, at least Persona 3 FES is on there.
