for some reason like every so often when i quit a game my ps3 decides to reset itself or turn itself off, anyone having/had a similar thing?

Nope. That isn't a good sign however. Should get it checked out.

I haven't....however here lately I've started up a game and I've been signed out for no reason whatsoever....it's not all the time but every so often....

I've had that problem with my 60gb but it stopped after 3 times or something. Now it just stopped reading Blu-ray discs and can only read PS1 and PS2 games and normal DVDs
But my 40gb hasn't done it.

You should go and get that checked I mean that sounds like a real potential problem.

Try cleaning the dust out of your PS3.
Also it may malfunction if it's overheated. I'd recommend getting that checked out.

I noticed mine does this if I quit during gameplay.

I recommend you press the pause button, then quit with the XMB.

Mine used to do that when playing GTAIV online before the latest patch. The game froze, and when I tried to quit, the PS3 beeped and reset. I think it has more to do with the game than the hardware.

well it only happens to me on gta4. none of my other games do that

Mine does too! .. Ok, that might actually be one reason I kinda hated MGS4.
I was trying to stop smoking but then I saw the install screen where Snake was smoking like crazy. And I can't even watch an animated character without craving another cigaret.
So my PS3 smokes, Snake smokes.. In the end PS3 and Snake is the reason I'm still smoking

The system also resets when you are loading something. So if you are loading something and you "Quit Game" the system will reset.

haha! that may have just hit the nail on the head, more often than not i quit when i get put onto a crappy map on call of duty 4, its not the only time but that tends to be when it happens
