Someone would have to code a virus to specifically attack a PS3. It may be possible, but considering viruses are pretty much absent on OSX, which has a much bigger web browsing user base than the PS3, it is highly unlikely anyone would waste their time doing so.

Nope, I've looked into it a while back and you won't get a virus.  But I'd still be careful and try to not get into any stick situations.

If there was a way to get a virus on a PS3 it would mean that you could likely break a PS3's security.  Since that hasn't happened,  its unlikely a virus could exist that would infect a PS3.

Studies by PC security firms show that porn sites are less likely to give you a virus than an average web site. The porn industry is a leader in technology and they make their money from happy customers, not from customers who can't use their computer. Porn companies don't want you getting viruses so they protect their sites better than most. "

No, it's not likely.

Fairly sure your safe.  From what I've read.  A virus would be coded to operate inside certain Operating systems.  So the mal-ware can't operate inside your ps3's OS.  Because it's of a different architecture.  Making passing a virus into your system much harder. 
 
Also, what is there to steal?  PS3 have no games.  amirite.  : )  So there aren't to many reasons to get information from a ps3.

It's very unlikely. Viruses are designed to attack specific parts of your computers registery files, most of the time. If you go on a site with a system that is protected or a system that doesn't have those files, then nothing can be targeted, thus no virus.

Of course not. Just like macs, it doesn't get viruses either, or other lesser operating systems. To get a virus, your operating system has to run exe on it's own to work. Since macs and ps3 doesn't even auto run things like that, it won't get a virus. It's not going to affect your videocard or cpu at all. Maybe your thinking spyware and viruses, it's not going to happen. For your pc, you should have an anti virus problem that stops a virus in it's tracks.

As far as i'm aware there are no current malware threats to the playstation 3 platform. 
 
OR for that matter, the xbox 360 or Wii. 
 
There's simply no point in devoting thousands of manhours constructing a virus for a system that will have no benefit for the programmer or anyone that hires said programmer. 
 
Better to hack windows and OSX clients for their credit card details.

Not 100% proof but its just very unlikely. Viruses must be made with the operating system in mind and since theres more PC users out there over Macs the virus maker would most likely code a virus for the PC and not a Mac. Although all it does take is some (fill in whatever) hater out there to code a virus specifically for (fill in whatever) and you would be screwed. 

i highly doubt it....there has to be an executable file to be run which will affect the system files.....so enjoy ur sticky controllers

Wouldn't most viruses come from torrenting anyway?  Downloading gigs of files, there's sure to be something someone could easily slip in there

no, i don't think you can a virus on ps3. you would have to code it for the ps3 os. i don't think a person would spend all that time to do that just to get people a virus.
