    The Playstation Network ID is not tied to a console. It's similar to an Xbox Live account in the way that you connect to their server with a [unique] username and password of your choosing.
    There is a User Account feature on the Playstation locally but they can be deleted, created, and even edit the name at will - even so, I susspect any second-hand PS3 console would be formatted before-hand so it'll be like having a new console in the sense there will be no user account yet, all set to factory default settings, and such.

    So yeah, there isn't really a main Playstation ID for you to worry about.
