It might be a Europe thing, I'm not sure. But I've been looking to buy UC1 and 2 and play them before I dive in Drake's Deception, however it seems they're only selling the platinum version here in Sweden. They are fugly as fug.

I see that in the US they're selling some dual pack which has a red banner and is smexy, but instead of selling that here in Europe, we get some plastic fake platinum cover with the must uncomfortably yellow side ever.

I wish I could find a non-best-of version of this game :(

I bought both MotorStorm 1 and Pacific Rift as Platinum, doesn't bother me. It just a box, I'm more interested in the content.

some people are just afraid to own a platinum version,just because it makes their game collection seem less worth.That's my guess.

i don't care about what version i am getting,as long as the game disc is there.What is it to argue about the looks,it is still the same game.

I hate the platinum box's, if a game I want is Platinum I would eBay the original and happily pay extra.

I guess you can import the greatest hits version?

Greatest hits usually dont look good but i guess compared to the European versions its not that bad.

No they are beautiful and I wish every game packaging ever looked like that. 
 

@McShank: Compared to the "Platinum" theme, the "Greatest Hits" theme is a work of art. Seriously.

The red boxes over here in NA are kinda worse. I hate the redboxes, it makes the game look so cheap.

E'yep, I own the platinum branded versions of UC1 and UC2 and they look, well, horrible.

But they are the only "versions" of the games that are available where I live. And it is the content that counts after all.

The first time I saw a Greatest Hits red box, I thought it was some sort of limited edition at first glance. I think it was a R&C game, and having never seen one before I thought it was exclusive to it (of course I only saw the label when I had it in my hand and realized then it was the Platinum equivalent in NA).

It is anything but cheap looking, IMO. And if I'm honest, I much prefer it to the regular cases even. That's how good I think it looks. But that's just me.

I really don't understand why they have to take a graphical shit on a game's box when they do a reprint. It's like the publisher is basically saying "you're getting the game for $20 bucks. We can print goatse on that cover and you still can't say anything." Whatever happened to subtlety?

Yes, they are ugly as hell. But then that is par for the course for Sony - they always make their budget ranges ugly.

Though they have more consistency than Mirosoft, who change the look every year or so.

Just check eBay.co.uk, Tradera or if you dare, Game and GameStop. I went the extra mile and got me a regular version too because of the ugly platinum shit.

That's a tip for Microsoft and Sony, if you want to sell more new games and decrease the used market, make platinum covers two-sided so I can reverse the art and have a normal looking box when I open the wrapping.

I avoid platinum games like the plague! Call me superficial but those ugly grey spines look like ass in my game line up.

I'd sooner pick up a pre owned original copy than a brand new platinum, regardless of price difference.

And I agree- I just picked up a used copy at Gamestop though. The only thing their good for, idiots were charging lie $80 on eBay for the original cover.

What's wrong the red "Greatest Hits" box? The Playstation is already red, where the puke yellow constrasts in a way that I personally find extremely offensive.

Haha, I used to do this with VHS movies 103 years ago, but no I don't have a printer that could produce as good results.
