I read an article that the PS3 could run linux, this had be really excited. So I read several articles, guides, and asked a few people who had done it and decided to do it myself. I burned myself a copy of Ubuntu (it was suggested in many of the articles) and followed all of the steps to put it on.
I get to the step where I have to change my default operating system and restart, I do that and now my PS3 is totally unresponsive. I turn it on, and all I get is a little white bar blinking on the top of the screen. I let it sit for half and hour, nothing changed. I can't seem to do anything. Resetting it just takes me back to this.
Is there anyway for me to change it back? Or did I just break my PS3?

The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
Did I just break my PS3?
You might have messed up the display setting so you can't see shit.
Do a hard reset (look in your manual) so that it boots back up to the regular XMB as its default. Then reinstall Linux. I don't recommend you to set the default OS to Linux for this reason.
Hold down the power button for about 8 seconds on your ps3, it will reset to deafult display and operating system settings, then change the default OS back to ps3
"Well, that worked, thank you. When I installed it, it was a pretty easy process however once it was installed I immediately uninstalled it. Linux and the ps3 do not mix, don't install it, it brings absolutely nothing worthwhile to the console, its so painstakingly slow you cna't do anything, and it sucks that you ahve to a keyboard plugged in at all times so that you can boot up your normal ps3 games and stuff.
The guide I was reading said I had to have the linux as my default in order to install it.
Do you (or anyone else) have any idea what I could have done wrong?"

Sorry, but I'm about as dumb as you can get with new technology. I still have the "old style" tube televisions, I heavily prefer them. I'm pretty sure that is SD.
@chililili: I heard the exact opposite, that it installs absurdly slow, but after that is run beautifully. I was mostly thinking of it for Snes emulators, since my Father is so opposed to playing them on the computer.
It was just a cool little feature, but I never found a use for it. It's not like I'm going to do my work on it or something.
"Ubuntu the supposedly designed for ps3 version"Yellow Dog Linux is the only one I had heard that was designed for PS3.
"chililili said:Yeah, yellow dog is the only one showing favor to the PS3 with special distros that are meant for the system."Ubuntu the supposedly designed for ps3 version"Yellow Dog Linux is the only one I had heard that was designed for PS3."
Also if I'm not mistaken, various linux distros are build for different processors. Thus, installing one that doesn't mix well with the PS3 processor.... may cause a mess up.
