I bought The Last of Us digitally full price... so yes, I guess?

#2 Posted by Petiew (1388 posts) -

Depends on what the publisher decides to class as full price. I bought the last of us for £40, but I wouldn't buy Fifa or ME3 for £50-60.

No. At full price I get a physical copy.

@rafaelfc: Dear God man, that download! Think of the spaces!

I buy playstation plus games at full price and AC3 so far.

I bought Last of Us at full price and Bioshock Infinite. The latter may not count since it was part of a promotion that offered $10 back for every $50 spent on PSN.

i kinda think that its stupid that the digi games are just as expensive as physical discs , sure it could money to maintain the servers and what not but it still does if no one buys it and it has to be cheaper then giving a profit to the stores and production of covers and discs.
but i rarely buy digi games at full price due to ps+ and mostly due to the fact that if i import a game with day 1 delivery its still at least 30% cheaper then going to the store or full price on psn. and sometimes i get it before release day in Europe.
the only game i can remember doing it with was ni no kuni since i wanted that game right now and there were non in the store

#8 Posted by falserelic (5723 posts) -

Yeah, sometimes. If I can't make it to a gamestop. I'll go buy a psn card from a local store, and download the game from home.

#9 Posted by Reisz (1608 posts) -

Yes. I'm part of the problem, I need to get on the PS+ Bandwagon urgently.

#10 Edited by Yummylee (23654 posts) -

Considering that they're often charged at an extra high price on the European PS store (including such 'bargains' as Fuse being sold for £60) then fuck no.

#11 Posted by Marcsman (3381 posts) -

Just the Last of Us

#12 Posted by darkvare (822 posts) -

buying them at full price in psn is cheaper than buying them at full price in the store here so sometimes i do

#13 Posted by M_Shini (561 posts) -

Most the digital games (at least in the Uk i don't know about other regions) are usually £10 or sometimes more expensive than buying a retail copy of the game some games selling at £50-£60 when the usual price at a retail is usually about £30-£40 tops depending on the game for what you would call a new full priced game. I would love to buy digitally if the prices weren't so stupidly priced.

#14 Edited by Lashe (1396 posts) -

Yeah I'll grab them full price if I really want it day one. Also have PS+

#15 Posted by Grissefar (2905 posts) -

I want a box instead of that psn shit, and with a 40gb drive, it is not even an option. Also, digital games sell at RRP, which is ridiculously expensive compared to a box.

#16 Posted by Tearhead (2396 posts) -

This is a bad poll.

#17 Posted by Nekroskop (2831 posts) -

What does full price even mean? I pay less digitally for a brand new game than physically. TLoU was 20 bucks cheaper on PSN than in stores where I live(Norway).

#18 Posted by GunstarRed (5907 posts) -

I can't believe they charge 50 and 60 pounds for games that are 30-35 everywhere else. You'd have to be insane or have too much money if you do in the UK.

#19 Posted by charlie_victor_bravo (1238 posts) -

No, I am not that stupid.

#20 Posted by RecSpec (4695 posts) -

Yeah, me and my brother and sister each get the game while only paying for it once.

#21 Edited by oodli (131 posts) -

I only buy full retail games in disc form, never digital.

#22 Posted by Fearbeard (866 posts) -

I bought the Last of Us full price but that's probably it. Ever since the new consoles have been announced without backwards compatibility I've basically taken myself out of the digital market for both systems.

#23 Posted by DarkShaper (1363 posts) -

Yes, when Injustice came out I was not in a position to pick up a retail copy for a few days so I bought it digitally.

#24 Posted by wjb (1766 posts) -

I think I bought and downloaded Infamous 2 around the time it came out.

Sometimes you don't want to wait for Amazon to ship you one and it's evening and you don't want to go to a store because you are already in your underwear...

That's where they get your underwear...

#25 Posted by MetalGearSunny (7466 posts) -

If I can't find it anywhere in my location, YESSSSSS!!!!!!

#26 Posted by Amiga_Guru (8 posts) -

Vita games, i buy them all the time but that is down to the fact that there ain't any store that stock them here.

#27 Posted by Nekroskop (2831 posts) -

Seeing as PSN games are cheaper than retail here ,I sometimes do.

#28 Edited by isomeri (1815 posts) -

I'm probably going to buy a digital copy of GTA V just to decrease the load times.

#29 Posted by peffy (16 posts) -

The only one I ever bought at full price ($59.99) was Saints Row IV off PSN. I couldn't wait for a price drop, and the PSN does not charge tax.. here in Canada (Ontario) tax is 13%, so I saved $7.80. That's fairly substantial, so I think I will be buying mostly digitally in the future.. I never trade in my old games anyway.. sure the box is nice to have, but not worth the extra $7.80 to me.

#30 Posted by Doskias (384 posts) -

That depends on a lot of factors - mostly on whether or not I'm certain I'll want to keep the game forever - or at least for the life of my console. I'm giving up my rights when I buy it digitally, so the game needs to be worth that sacrifice.

Everyone talks about how digital should be cheaper than physical because of shipping costs, production costs, how much of a cut the retailer gets, but I feel like those costs are fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things. The reason I think digital games should be cheaper than physical games is because when I have a physical game, I can do whatever I want with it. I can keep it forever, I can give it as a gift, I can trade it or sell it to a store, sell it to a friend, or light it on fire. I feel like the right to do what I want with the item I own is what I'm paying the extra money for , and when I buy a digital game, I'm giving up all of those rights and all of those options.

I never buy full price digital. I want the bonus items, you get no extras with digital. When Bioshock Infinite came out on psn at full price it didnt include Bioshock.

As stated above, the UK prices are stupid. So no. I might well do if they were more reasonable though.

#33 Posted by JasonR86 (10043 posts) -

Yeah, sometimes.

#34 Posted by squiDc00kiE (401 posts) -

Being more of a pc gamer for the last year, yes I do. I'm not buying any physical games on ps4 when i get one. That ticked off the gamestop rep for sure. haha

*raises hand* Another UK user here, and like all the others, I don't bother with digital games over physical.

I can either buy the physical version for £35-£40 or I can get the digital PSN/XBL version for £40-£60 depending on the game. If that's how they price games now I shudder to think what would happen if consoles did go down the road of being digital only. If we went a full console generation without being fucked like that maybe I might be able to get on board with digital games. Until that time though? Fuck digital.

#37 Posted by jgf (402 posts) -

I would only buy digital games at the full price if they had the same advantages as a disc (lend, share, sell, offline play, ...). I wont pay same price for a crippled product. Make it cheaper or add benefits!

I might do this for GTA V cause I don't want to have to go to the outside world to buy it so yes.

GTAV is the only full priced PS3 game I have bought off of PSN.

#41 Posted by Demoskinos (16510 posts) -

I will occasionally. I mean what is the difference? My only issue is I'm constantly fighting for Hard Drive space now.

#42 Posted by DarthOrange (4131 posts) -

Only game I bought at full price on PSN was Injustice although I didn't pay sales tax so it wasn't really full price.

#43 Posted by Nodima (1553 posts) -

Out of convenience, though I am a PS+ member and a lot of the games in my library are part of IGC.

But I have bought NCAA 13, Madden 13, NCAA 14, The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite digitally at full price (I think I had a PSN Card for NCAA/Madden 13). There's a good chance I'll get GTAV digitally as well.

#44 Posted by bobafettjm (1740 posts) -

If I am paying full price for a game where I can choose between a disc and a download I will always opt for the disc. I have never paid full price for a game that is also on a disc, but I have for many XBLA and PSN smaller releases.

#45 Posted by Gnubberen (828 posts) -

I "kinda" pay the full price. I buy the games on the US store, which is cheaper than the EU store.

I always go physical when I can. Don't have loads of HDD space, and i like having the cases on my shelf.

#48 Posted by johncallahan (735 posts) -

Yup. My stance of "fuck stuff" carries strong. If I can get a game digitally that's the way I'm going. My once full of games bookcase is now down to maybe a shelf.

#49 Posted by doublejumppride (28 posts) -

I'll pay full price if it's an older game I can't find locally or rarely as an impulse buy. I still enjoy getting a physical box and looking at artwork and a manual if there is one. Having done most of my gaming on PC the past year though I imagine I'll start buying more games digitally at full price on PS4 as I've gotten used to the convenience.
