If so, which ones have you bought and why. I have 2 special editions.

1. Devil May Cry 4 Collectors edition
2. Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition

I feel the DMC 4 special edition wasnt worth it but oh well. Battlefield wasnt really worth it but it was only $10 more so I didnt really care. I plan on getting Madden 09 collectors becasue it comes with Head Coach 09 and to me, it seems like a great deal.

One final question, Why doesnt Sony make special editions of games? A steel book edition of Gow 3 would be sick, I'd definately buy it. (Imagines how sick Kratos would look on a steel book case)

I would've gotten the MGS4 one from gamestop but I had to get the bundle. The only special edition I have is the one for FFXII.

It happends, but most of the time I get the regular edition.

Never. Gears 2 will be the first SE game I buy.

The last special edition version of a game I bought was of Mass Effect. My next will be for Gears of War 2.

I bought the special edition of rock band because I needed the instruments.

in general, I avoid special or collectors editions because they're stupid money grabs.

the only time I make an exception is for JRPGs because those will actually become valuable and I'm sure the fact that my copy of Persona 3 has an art book and soundtrack cd with it will add to the value.

I rarely buy special editions. Over the years, I've found that it's generally not worth the extra cash. I own the special editions of Halo 2, Mortal Kombat: Deception (Scorpion cover), and Grand Theft Auto IV. I found Halo 2's to be a complete waste of $10, and the only thing I like about it is the special tin case, which looks better than the standard Halo 2 box art. I actually thought the original Halo 2 box art looked great, but then about 2 weeks before launch, they altered it and made it look dumb. The MK:D special edition wasn't all that great, and I was disappointed with the game anyway. The only reason I bought GTAIV's special edition is because I'm a huge GTA fan and the bonus stuff is more practical and I figured I'd probably find some use for it. However, all that stuff remained unused. From now on I think I may just stick to the standard edition of games.

Not really, unless it has extra missions or something. I don't buy the special editions of movies unless they have extensive behind the scenes, or extra footage.

Preordered the LE of Fable 2 last night. :D

If I am a big fan then I will shell out the extra 10 bucks. However thats very few franchises. Although shamefully I did buy that lovely helmet.

and
Dragonball Z Burst Limit

and I only got the Burst Limit SE cuz it was the same price as the normal ver and it came with a movie :P

I could care less about most of the special crap that comes with SE and LE vers of games unless I really dig the game. There's no games in my near future that I plan on getting an LE for. LBP if something kewl is added perhaps.

Nope, but I made a deal with my brother to get the extra content for the MGS4 Special Edition.  $10 extra wasn't so bad, but it's not something I see myself doing again...unless it's below retail price like those Halo 3 LE's.

Both well worth it, specially FFXII, that tin case was well worth the money.

90 dollars later... I'll likely never repeat that feat.

I hate when SE's, LE's that add nothing to the package. Honestly, a making of video or interview just doesn't cut it. I want figures, or soundtracks or loads of art or making of's like MGS4's which is like a movie in of itself!
