The idea of uninstalling unused files on a console has never really entered my mind or even been neccessary untill a few hours ago, I tried to download the Mass Effect 2 demo and it wouldn't let me play due to lack of free space on the hard drive. So obviously I figured I'm gonna have to delete some games I've beaten or no longer own. My PS3 has a pathetic 40 gig hard drive but to be honest untill now, I haven't exceeded that. So how many of you guys actually bother to delete games you ain't playing? I guess on a 250 gig console you wouldn't need to.
On a side note is it worth upgrading my hard drive? Apparently you can just whack any old hard drive in there and it should work fine. But then again I'm fairly clueless when it comes to this sort of stuff. There are some PS3 games that take up ridiculous amounts of space and I've been noticing a lot more full game downloads on the Playstation Store. If this trend catches on for the Playstation (I would imagine it will) I guess I'm gonna need a much bigger hard drive ... would anyone care to recommend one to me?

The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
Do you delete games you no longer play/own?
I'd upgrade the HDD mine is 80 and I delete Data installs for games that I won't play. So Bioshock I deleted. But that's about it truly/really the only one. So yeah I'd upgrade if I where you.

That's a guide to do it. HDD's are relatively cheap you can get a good one for about $50.
Only if it takes up over a gig or more, less than that I usually leave it alone because I have a 80gig.
Hell. I do it on my 250 xbox and my 80 ps3. If I either get tired of the game or just never play it.
You realize you can delete the game data and not the game saves right?
I usually get rid of the data files since there is no point in storing them. Once I want to play it again, I can just reinstall. I always keep my game saves, since these are small files usually close to a megabyte.
Rarely. This is only because I have bought a handful of PSN games, and the both of the Liberty City Stories expansions I bought on disc for the Playstation 3. I only have an 60 gig HDD which kinda limits me from downloading a lot of stuff I might want just because Rockband already has a couple gigs taken up, the few downloadable games, and then the games which I have installed; my PS3 is almost at capacity already.
I regularly delete games that I haven't played in months.
80 gigs is just not enough to keep em there.
If I've lost interest in playing a game or no longer own it I'll delete the game data. I have the 60GB launch model.
