Headset compatible with ps3/pc and recording?

#1 Posted by Usernamenotfound (3 posts) - 10 months, 4 days ago

Sorry if this is in the wrong topic, I was just browsing through forums trying to find an answer for my question. (feel free to delete this if it's in the wrong section of the forums.)

I'm currently looking for a headset capable of working on the ps3/pc and to record my voice (because I plan on making a youtube channel soon, so I don't want to get another headset just for that.) If anyone knows any good brand names I've seen a few different headphones but I thought I'd go around asking the community because they're probably know more about gaming then I do.

Thanks :) (also could I post this on the pc forums??)

Is it good for recording to?

I heard that the Official PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset does not work with all computers, I do have an asus laptop btw, so i'm trying to figure out if the Official PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset is also compatible with my laptop.

it should be compatible, if it's not, you can always return it.

I have the PS3 Official Stereo Headset and use it on my PC. There is zero set-up to get it to run on Windows 7. Just plug the USB dongle and you're set. The "Virtual Surround Sound" feature that the headset has for the PS3 doesn't work when using it on PC though. The sound is average at best. If you're an audiophile you might come away disappointed. The mic seems to be of decent quality - I never get any complaints when using it.

I don't think you can use the Official PS3 headset to simultaneously hear the game audio and record using the build-in mic(maybe you can), regardless, you should buy a decent mic.
