How can I get rid of this corrupted data?

I have corrupted data sitting in the Game area on PS3, it's been there since December 29th, 2010 and I have no idea what it is, but it's taking up 7 GB and when I try to delete it I get an error.

I'd probably try finding out what game made that data and have it overwrite it, then try to delete it. At least, that's what I would do.

Can you just select it then hit Triangle to bring up that little side menu thing?

I've tried. I have no idea at all what it is.

Yes, but if I select delete it gives me an error.

I think you'd have to reformat your HDD.

Maybe you should use that cloud saving feature that comes with your PS Plus subscription free trial, then save your save games to the cloud, then reformat your hard drive. I dunno. That's all I can think of.

Try using some of the options in the recovery menu.

@CL60: Out of curiosity, what is the storage capacity of your current hard drive? If that's been an ongoing issue, you might consider replacing the drive altogether. I recently upgraded to 640 gigabyte drive.

Failing that, you'll probably have to follow others' advice and format the existing drive. @PrivateIronTFU is right, though. Now would be a good time, thanks to their current offering of free access to the cloud.

So the only solution to get rid of it is reformat? That sucks.

You could try backing up all the saves that are most important to you on an External Hard drive and then reformat your ps3. I know that sucks, but at least you can save some of your data.

I don't know if you have tried yet but use the recovery menu, there is an option specifically for corrupted data on there.

    Reformating it, unfortunatley.
