    My biggest complaint would be the ugly ass friends list rededign, it just doesn't fit the rest of the UI.  
     
    Even more so I would say that the clock redesign also doesn't fit the whole theme.  
     
    It's not that the PS3 looks like poop on a stick, but the different UI elements don't seem like they belong together. I'm no master UI designer genius, but I really wonder if they have more than engineers do their UI design. 
     
    BUT, if they fix the friends list by putting something useful in that big gray box, then that would be a step in the right direction, like trophy info and such.  
     
    WHY TAKE OUT THE PS3 LOGO AT THE START UP OF GAMES!?! I don't know what I'm playing, is this an Xbox a Wii, I can't tell. 
     
    Too many advertising things, just keep it at the PSN side/category.

    Recently played games list, I love it, but it should be more separate from the "what's new at the PSN store" thingie. 
     
    Browser seems snappier. 
     
    Start up of games seems faster, could be the removal of the PS3 logo. 
     
    I'm unsure about the bigger font, it's ok. 
     
    Battery and clock don't overlap anymore.

    Considering that this is the week that I plan to get a PS3, firmware 3.0 will be my first experiance with the UI.  :D

    Oh, by the way, is anyone experiencing problems with Uncharted? A lot of people say it crashes after the update, but it seems to run fine for me.

    I agree on the dislikes. Especially on the friends list, those boxes are just a off-putting. 
     
    But I guess it'll be something we'll end up getting used to, whether we like it or not.

    I fully agree with you on the crappy look of the friends list though I willing to give them more rope. It could very well be that they are preparing for to add more info on those ugly grey boxes. We'll see if that design stays, if enough people complain about it then they'll change that. I like the new "dynamic themes" though I think they are overpriced and they could be cheaper, 4 dollars for a damn background theme is just too much. I also don't like the fact that you'll have to pay for Premium Avatars.  
     
    As far as improving then Sony really needs to work on their PSN ID cards. I believe everyone will agree with me on that issue, there is no real reason why the cards still look cheap, lacking, and frankly boring.  
     
    I really liked the new look and I think the status bar is a very good add-on and I liked the fact that you can accessing PSN is not limited to a single place.

    @Mordukai: The very definition of premium avatars means you have to pay for them. They said there will be free ones as well. The same is true for themes (e.g. the Afrika one on the Japanese Store is free).

    @Kamasama: It still does not make it right. Just because you can does not mean you should. I still think that this update should have been called 2.90. It just does not feel like the major update Sony made it out to be and I sure I am not the only one.

    In the Japanese store there is an Afrika free Dynamic Theme to download. Its cool, and the effect is amazing. I would also add to your list in LIKE that now, when you stay for a couple of seconds over an item, open a folder, or analyse a trophy, de background is blured, making reading much easier!

    @Mordukai: Well, I wasn't saying I agreed with it. I never buy aesthetic premium content, but it's a viable business model. And it's not as if charging for themes is new; if anything it's slightly more justified with animation. I believe they still make the tools available for people to make their own.
     
    I couldn't care less about their versioning scheme, and I'm not sure how major they made it out to be anyway. There are some changes that I like and others that I don't mind. It seems like a nice update overall.

    the update is alright. i didn't think it was alright that special. it added sparkles on the dashboard. i think that sony could have changed the boxes a little bit. i like it but they shoudl change the color of the boxes or something like that.

    I like the new update, i cant bitch about a single thing... well yeah your right about the friends list, the grey boxes really doesn't fit to the UI. But other than that i really like the new UI elements. 
     
    And as tacky as it seems, the sparkles in the background are really sweet, and i love the effect of them when you launch a game.

    @THAfara0: Yeah, if you think about it, it's almost the price of Trash Panic. I'll take a game over a theme anytime. Though if they are cheaper, I'd be willing to buy one.

    This might seem to be the most unimportant thing I could ask about the update but: does the PS3 still play an overture when you turn it on or did they change it, because I really like that overture?

    My firmware 3.0 dislikes - 
      
    - The new font size (looks like crap on a 1080p TV)
     
    - The new blur effect that does it's best to simulate a headache
     
    - The playstation store shortcuts in the Video and Game categories, and 'what's new' adware and ticker, this is particularly obnoxious 
     
    - Pretty much every UI and visual change they made 
     
    - The fact that I can't downgrade back to 2.8
     
    Nothing that I like or care about has been added unfortunately.  I got my 60 Gb PS3 at launch and have been pretty happy with it - until now
