I've got a strange problem with my PS3. Whenever I have the component cables plugged into the back of my television it causes a noticeable electronic hum to emit from the speakers. At the moment I have to unplug the PS3 cables every time I want to switch back to watching my cable input. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it's doing this? I don't have any problems at all when I have my 360 component cables plugged in.

Just plug your component cables into a different outlet. Or does your tv set only have 1 component plug in?

Sometimes it's because the plugs aren't in all the way. Try that.

As a layman, I'd suggest plugging in your component cables and rotating them slowly, checking to see if the humming subsides.

Swap their location. Or it could just be bad cables.

Well, this has been going on for more than a year now. Ever since I bought my PS3 and had to shell out more money for component cables. I'll unplug my cable box and try plugging it in there.

Have you tried the composite cables? or HDMI? I know composite will give you SD only but it can be a test at the very least.

That's strange, my PS3 has never caused my tv to hum.

I've fixed it. You just have to unplug anything that's plugged into the Component Cables port right beside it. Simple enough but annoying at the same time.
