    Hello everyone! I recently purchased a ps3 and I have one big question I need answered. Is it possible to run the ps3 at a 1366x766 resolution? or even 1360x728? The reason I ask is because I have a 720p, 32" TV where the max resolution is 1366x766. I currently have the ps3 hooked up with an HDMI cable but when I have the ps3 running at 720p resolution the highest resolution it will display is 1280x720. I also have an xbox 360 that I have hooked up via the VGA adapter that does allow me to run the 360 at 1360x728 resolution. Does any one know of a way to get the ps3 to display at one of these resolutions?? Playing games at 1280X720 is an eye sore for me because I know how much better my TV looks running at 1360X728.  Thanks

    No, you can't. Those 88 pixels will be wasted...

    @SpikeSpiegel: Why is that? Are ps3 games simply just not capable at running in this resolution?

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure games on both systems would be 720p or lower, just upscaled to 1366x768. So it shouldn't be a big difference.

    720p =  1280x720
     1080p =  1920 x 1080
    The ps3 can run all games at 720p and some at 1080p. on a 32 inch screen you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between the two unless you were very close to the screen.

    The difference between those resolutions is very minimal. 1360x728 is not a standard resolution, and won't be supported by most things other than PC's. Imagine if there were many different resolutions being used across the industry? Having to ensure when you buy a TV that you have each of these, because if you didn't - then some movies would not be able to fit properly on your TV (without needing to be scaled). There is a need for standard resolutions which is why there is 720 and 1080.

    All you Xbox is doing at 1366x768 is upscaling the 720p image to fit the screen as opposed to letting the TV do it (The 360 is fitted with a hardware scaler unit).  95% of the games on the PS3 and 360 run at 1280x720 no higher.

    It's surprising that after all these years people still need this explained to them.
