Problems with PS3 help needed.

About two months ago I moved my PS3 from my living room to my spare bedroom to make room for new consoles. I haven't had it plugged in for that whole time.

So this morning I decided I wanted to start Yakuza 4. So I plugged everything in and the TV just wont get the PS3 signal, and I just cant figure out the problem. I tried the same HDMI cable with my 360 on the same TV and it worked fine, then just to be sure I triad a different cable same issues, at that point I think my PS3 has been damaged in the move. So just to be certain I moved the PS3 into my study and hooked it to the monitor via HDMI and it works fine, so PS3 is confirmed to still be in working order

So for some reason the PS3 and the TV aren't playing nice. all the pieces work individually, HDMI ports on PS3 and TV are fine, HDMI cables are fine and both the TV and PS3 work when connected to different devices.

Anyone got any ideas because I'm at a loss.

@ninnanuam: Have you tried using a different cable and different port or the TV?

Have you tried holding down the power button for about ten seconds when starting it up? My guess is that it's still trying to output 1080p whereas your TV can only do 1080i.

It might be the TV. I know my Samsung will say that there's no signal if I had my Xbox 360 on/off beforehand without turning the TV off again.

@ninnanuam: No problem. You're quite welcome. It's funny how many people tend to run into this problem (myself included).
