So yesterday I went to turn on my ps3 for the first time since Journey came out and it won't turn on. No funky lights, just goes from red to green to off. We hardly use the dang thing, so it's not like it's overworked. Tried different outlets, same deal. Anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions on what to try?

    Try ejecting/putting in a disc.

Try hitting it really hard, that should work.

    Don't actually do that.

    Take it to a shop.

I'm going to play support here. Make sure you have it plugged into an electrical outlet.
on a serious note you could put it in standby. Hold the power button until it beeps 3 times. Then you'll get some options. I'm pretty sure I've had this same problem before and it fixed it.

Not sure where/how to find a shop?

Holding down the button longer results in same, it just shuts down. Same with inserting/ejecting disc. Maybe it's just depressed because we don't use it much? Is there zoloft for ps3? Anyhow, I might try another cable if I can get my hands on one, but I'm not optimistic that the cable is the problem.

I did a little more searching and from what I've read it might be that the power supply is dead/dying.

@ChadMasterFlash: Thanks for looking into it. Sounds like I'll probably end up having to send it off for repair then.

The fat PS2 had a big on/off switch on the back. Check if your PS3 has something similar.

My PS1 only used to work upside down, try that!
