I just found out i need an HDMI splitter in order to capture video from a PS3 or PS-TV. Would THIS do the job or do i need something with it's own power supply?
PS3 HDMI recording is completely blocked out by HDCP. The reason you need a splitter is because some of them (though fewer these days), bypass HDCP protection. You'll need to get one that isn't HDCP compliant.
Some of the reviews mentions it having issues with HDCP, a copy protection/video encryption thing primarily used for Blu-Ray video and stuff like that, but which I believe a few PS3 games also require in order to render in resolutions above SD?
@ll_exile_ll: Could i capture PS3 or PS-TV video by converting it to component and then back to HDMI? I don't have A/V out ports on my TV so that's out of the question.

Here is some good information on dealing with HDCP game recording issues.
