So I have this SATAII 80 gig drive laying around. Would I be able to put this into the PS3? Does it support SATA? IDE? Both?

it has to be a 2.5" Serial ATA hard drive erm if you don't want to lose all of your saves etc. aswell you'll need an external hard drive large enough to back it all up... i googled it an found a little more information when i was looking into it but that was 2 or 3 months ago

the uk doesn't have 80Gb's yet, but i dont see the point because the'll cost liek £50 more than the 40Gb with the same functionality but you can buy a 250Gb laptop hard drive for £50 from PC world/curry's so when i get the cash im going to do that

Well you can play PS2 games on the 80GB, which you can't do on the 40GB. Also the 80GB has a 3 memory card readers.

the pal one reportedly in't going to have any of these, its just the 40gb shell and functionality with a 80gb hard drive in it, again similar to the whole blu-ray thing the americans/japanese get all the perks

As far as I remember, shouldn't the 80gb model cost the same when it becomes standard and all the 40GB models are phased out?

Also, should there be, like, HUGE discounts on the 40GB models when they'd want to get rid of them all?

You could always import a system.

Importing stuff to Israel is kind of a hassle, heh...

i could, but htne i'd have to go through the crap of getting it converted to a system which can play PAL disc's etc... and as soon as you do that any warranty is void so if it all goes pete tong im like what $400 down??? im happy enough with m 40 i just wish it had the extra usb ports and i'd be happy

Well, games are region free like I said, but movies are different story.

yea i guess because the games are controlled by sony they aren't as bothered about breaking street dates on games as the likes of warner bros. are on movies and that, it is annoying but its not as if i can do much about it

2.5' Drives aren't expensive, I'm thinking of upgrading my current 60Gb drive.
