I was going to Wal-Mart so I could lay away a PS3, but they're outta stock.  They didnt even have the game I wanted either!  (Drakes Fortune: Uncharted.)

Oh, and just a question to start a side discussion, is Heavenly sword a hack n' slash, and is it a fun game and worth the money?

It's ironic in that the most probable reason Wal-Mart is out of PS3's is because they have a layaway program in the first place.  There's probably a dozen or more sitting in the back waiting to get paid off, and I bet most never will.  Save your money and then go buy it wherever it's in stock - cash is king, as they say.

Um... I thought Wal-Mart got rid of Lay-aways a year ago? It was a company wide policy I heard. The Wal-Marts around here got rid of them.

From what I heard, they were only disallowing layaway on certain items, like PS3's and Wii's.  I'm sure you can imagine why.

    I don't know though, I haven't gone into a Wal-Mart in years.

Around here, the layaway sections are completely gone, you can't put anything on layaway anymore.

I just did some google digging, apparently, layaway sections are still being phased out. There's even a petition to Wal-Mart to keep them open.

Dude, always say no to Wal-Mart. And yeah, Heavenly Sword is pretty good. Nice, short...but the bow parts are hella annoying.

As someone who has received a fair share of commandments from on high (not from Wal-Mart), I can attest that there's a strong disconnect between "company policy" and the reality on the ground.

MB's probably right though. The reason a store that allows lay-away would be out of PS3s would be...lay away. Just save your money instead of screwing both yourself (out of pocket cash) and another gamer (out of a PS3).

I guess that's true. Still kind of surprising it's taken this long and there's still some layaways left.

Why don't you just buy it online? I think Walmart has some deals or you get to pick a game and accessories to go along with your PS3.

As mentioned in previous posts, Wal-Mart officially announced to be ending layaways at the end of 2006. Many Wal-Marts have gotten rid of their layaway sections, but there are still some around.

Well all of the Wal-Marts where I live have layaways and you can even put video games in them. Maybe they just don't have them in certain areas anymore.

Damn trolls, so did you end up getting your ps3? I think instead of Heavenly Sword you should look more into Ratchet and Clank, that;s a far better game which I believe is priced the same.
