What Other Rare PS2 Games Do You Want to See Released on PSN?
@Illuminosopher:
I was just thinking that with all these HD re-releases, it'd be kind of cool to see a Suikoden collection of some sort. It'll never happen, as I'm pretty sure that series is deader than dead, but a guy can hope.
@Sparky_Buzzsaw: actually I think there is a new one coming out on the PSP... so yeah the series is dead.
If they really want to get some obscurities, what about The Guy Game, or Raw Danger (I had to look up the name of that one), or BMX XXX? Though for that last one they should go with the GameCube or Xbox version, as the PS2 one was faaaaar less interesting.
- R.A.D: Robot Alchemic Drive
- Soul Nomad and the World Eaters
- La Pucelle: Tactics
- The Adventures of Cookie and Cream
- Fatal Frame 3
- Gitaroo Man
- Xenosaga III
- Okage: Shadow King
- Blood Will Tell
- Shadow Hearts
- Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim
- Drakengard 2
- The Warriors
- Haunting Ground
- SMT Devil Summoner 1
- Wild Arms: Alter Code F
- Chain Dive [Import]
- Vib Ripple [Import]
Both Shadow Hearts games. I never played them.
And if they could do an HD update and have Nocturne in widescreen and super smooth I'd love to play through it again.
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks-
This was a great co-op (ko-op) game on the PS2. You played as Liu Kang and Kung Lao in a 10-15hr adventure. The game looked great, had a deep combo system with throws and environmental fatalities as you went along and you could even unlock fatalities and brutalities. I think the crappy PS1 mortal kombat action games made people skeptical of this game which is unfortunate. I believe a HD remake or a simple re-release would allow more people to appreciate how good this game was. Online co-op would be a great addition as well. The game didn't sell as well so I guess it counts as rare.
SOS: Final Escape/Disaster report-
One of the unfortunate cancellations as a result of the Japanese earthquake was the cancellation of Disaster report 4 on the PS3. A PS3 release of the earlier PS2 games would allow people to see just how innovative these games were. The games were not the best with frame rate hitches, lackluster graphics and convoluted controls but the idea of trying to survive in a post-earthquake environment was great.
War of the monsters
Whenever topics like these come up I always champion this overlooked 3D brawler. The game had you fighting in a variety of destructible city landscapes with GIANT MONSTERS. The combat was great and you could enhance your combos with throw-able objects and vehicles. The game also had a 50s disaster movie vibe to it which was great as well. Unfortunately the game was a bit short and only had a small roster of characters.
Other games I'd like are:
- GTA and GTA2-not really rare but I'd love to play these games on my PS3. The top down view still holds up today and the missions are just as fun.
- Hulk ultimate destruction-This is still the best hulk game made lately and it was essentially a precursor to Prototype. So if you loved Prototype I'd encourage you to get this game.
- Psi-ops
- Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil.
Just fucking release everything. There's no reason any game should ever die and go away and become unplayable and the licensing for future generations of consoles and royalties involved should be negotiated in the very beginning, so they don't have to bother going back and doing it later (which is why they then only make the effort to reproduce some games, even when there may no be any technical hurdles or investment in doing so). I can only hope they have been doing that this generation.
@Creamypies: Are you referring to Disaster Report / Zettai Zetsumei Toshi ?

YES! God yes! I loved that game!
I dunno if it has been brought up, but any of the Shadow Hearts games. Loved the combat system those games use.
Anywhere online I can find a list of the PS2 games released on PSN? I tried to dig through the PSN main site and didn't see it.
@Wrighteous86: Escape from Monkey Island is on PSN. Unless you're talking about some specific PS2 game I'm not aware of.
I know they released a Garou Mark of the Wolves version for ps2 in Japan. I'd like to see that game make it on the ps3.
.hack// without a doubt. Those are probably the only games I'd bother playing at this point that weren't updated with higher resolutions, trophies, or ported to Vita.
Sakura Wars would be a nice touch, but good luck with that. That is another "bring to Vita" situation for them as I can't see a game that relatively young coming back as simply a digital PS2 game.
