I tried to sign in just now and got that. Generally that occurs when my internet goes out, but as you can see by this topic, my internet connection is pretty fine.

i can't even sign in.. my internet is really messed up on my PS3, yet everything else works fine. 

This error is connected with Playstation hardware ID conflicts connecting to official sony servers. 
 
Formatting will not fix this. Essentually if you're getting this a lot you may need a replacement PS3. 
 
The problem consists of multiple playstations with the same hardware ID as yours is trying to connect to the same server, the server notices the duplication and cuts both off. 
 
There is no local fix available for this problem. Contact sony for more information.

Yea same with me. I tried to download the digital copy of Zombieland and it was telling me that error message, even though earlier in the day for me I was online playing MAG perfectly fine. At least it's not just me but I hope it gets fixed soon.

Im having this as well, and loads of my friends can not sign in either, just before this i got a 'trophy cannot sync' error playing mw2 online - now i cant sign in

EVERYONE is getting this. Playstation forums are all fucked up. I can't play Heavy Rain because it can't find the trophy data(???!?!??!!?!?) This is big news, somebody fucked up royal at Sony.

Hehehehe, me neither. I'm just using GameFaqs as an example. You know somethings up when there's an eight page thread that's continually getting larger with people who have the same problem.  The real thing that blows me away, is it seems like I actually lost trophy data for Heavy Rain(?) It's not even there saved on my machine for some reason. Looking on my account online it get's stranger, because I've synced my Heavy Rain trophies online previously (Even got an annoying trophy/facebook update) and now the game is gone completely from my online profile (???? -_- ????)  To clarify: I can't play this single player game because of an error concerning my online profile to a downed network.  So see PC gamers that are concerned about draconian style DRM, your console brethren are affected too. :P "

sounds like maintenance to me, happens every once in a while, nobody thinks to check where they would inform you of it beforehand (playstation.com network status thing), and it's down during.

Wow, misery loves company I guess. My wife and I just bought a new Plasma HDTV and just set it up. Of course the PS3 is bored right now. But I'm glad it not just me. I was freaking out out over calling Sony on this error and being charged a ridiculous amount to repair my launch day 60 gig! 
 
Hopefully whatever is going with PSN to cause these errors is fixed soon!

I'm getting it too. I just tried to play some dragon age and it wouldn't run since it couldn't find trophy data. I then tried Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection and that worked. Every game i played though, the trophies from each game disappear locally. I've signed into my PSN from my laptop and my trophies are still all stored there though.
 
The date is also set to 1/1 and my heavy rain dynamic theme disappeared.

Now the gaming news blogs are starting to investigate it.

I was getting close to the end of BioShock when my game froze. Came back online and I can't play anything. Sadly I don't think my game had saved for awhile so looks like I might be playing some stuff over again.

i just logged in and there is no problem at all.. everything is running fine trophies internet connect all normal.  so its not happening to everyone

I have also been getting the same problem (Registration of the trophy information could not be completed the game will quit. 8001050f) is this problem triggerd by hard rain or is the whole server down. 
 
Also any 1 else finding that hard rain is quite glitchy and find the sound cutting of at points and lagging.

I can't sign in aswell, Ninja Gaiden sigma 2 totally locked up on me after the credits stopped rolling, which means i have no trophies for completing the last chapters, damn  

I did read somewhere that it could be just affecting the fat PS3's.

I got it too, and apparently a crap load of people got it from what I can see. It seems like only the fat models are getting it from what I've read on other boards.

I would like to point out that the 8001050F error is no laughing matter, and I'm pretty blown away that this is the widespread error message that all the users are getting because the network is down.
 
If you get this error normally, it means that there is a critical failure with your PS3's hardware.
 
Maintenance or not, there are very easy ways to communicate that your network is down to your customers. Giving them an error code that when standing alone, tells you that your bluRay drive is hosed is not the way to do it. 
 
More importantly, the inability to play a singleplayer game, because you have to synch your profiles online for trophies, is something that needs to change.
