@get2sammyb:
See now you're just whining. Ford never promised you your car could fly, and they never told you that your car was better then another car for that very reason.
I'm not interested in any moral highground bullshit, i'm interested in the fact that of all the pieces of kit inside the PS3, the PS2 chip was the least costly and would not have reduced the price enough (and indeed didnt) to make a difference to consumers who were complaining about price, so it was a futile effort. I'm also interested in the fact (as I stated, and you ignored) that I collect games, and my PS2 is on it's last legs, by making me buy another PS2 when this one dies, that makes me far less likely to buy a PS3 simply because although it's not a huge wadge of cash, £45 is enough of a hit to mean that I could no longer warrant buying a PS3 within a similar time period. So what do I do? Do I abandon all those PS2 games, and buy a PS3? Why the fuck should I do that? Moral high ground be damned, I don't care about that, I just want access to my PS2 games, access I was promised. Trust me, i'd much rather be sat here with a fully BC PS3 happily putting my old PS2 into storage or giving it to my brother. But instead i'm faced with some difficult decisions, regarding what to purchase over the next 6 months.
Believe it or not, this thread only turned sour because people like you waded in here with your "Who gives a fuck? Buy a PS2" attitudes, only then did people start arguing back and forth. You don't like people complaining about lack of BC, awesome, epic, i'll support you all the way. But don't come up in here telling people it doesn't matter, and then paint us as some kind of hooting zealot for finding the idea that Sony might finally be adding that functionality back into the PS3 appealing.
I also don't have the physical room to put a PS3 and a PS2. I barely have the room to accomodate the size jump up from the PS2 to PS3. Things like this might not matter to you, but the fact they matter to someone else makes them no less valid. Your car comparison just makes you looks whiny, I was much more willing to put up with your opinion until you did that, it's nothing alike this (or any other similar) situation, instead it's fantastical and sarcastic.
