Well folks, here it is straight off of the PS4 website. This image was taken from the Dualshock 4 info and as you can see, its under the jack on the controller. Go check it out on the website. Up to you folks whether or not its a good thing. Personally, I have good speakers, so all I need is a cheap headset that will do the job. What do you guys think?

I already have the Playstation Elite Headset thing that works great, but if everyone will have something to communicate with, that's good I guess.

I try to avoid ever talking to anybody online though, even with my headset.

Bummed cause those type of earbuds never rest in my ear that well, hope I can use other earbuds via the jack. If I can use my current buds then awesome.

I'd be pretty bummed if it didn't include some cheap headset - although that is a little cheaper than I expected.

Definitely not digging the whole ear-bud deal. I'm hoping that the picture shown is just showing that you can hook up 3rd party headsets and a different ps3 headset hooks into that port to the left of the one being used.

I would never use this thing, but good on them for including it, since it represents an even playing field for online chat which was sorely missing with the PS3 at launch.

It's no better or worse than what Apple throws in the box with iDevices, but I would never use those for any amount of time either.

While we're on the subject: "sound effects of games from both the TV and also from the controller", so you can get full game audio from the controller? This is something I've been curious of since I saw it. Great if that's the case, I hope I can just plug in any regular headphones though.

It'd be cool if you could get game audio through that headphone port. So I could plug in my Bose headphones and hear my game really easily with really high quality sound that way.

Nice that they include the thing but quality bluetooth headsets are so cheap now that if you really want to chat online you should probably just pick one of those up.

Is that only one earbud I see? Goddamnit Sony, that's part of the reason why I didn't like the Xbox 360 headset. How hard could it have been for them to include the other earbud?

@addfwyn: Do you know if Sony has confirmed that the Pulse and Elite headsets from the PS3 will work on the PS4? I haven't seen anything written otherwise, but I know PS3 fight sticks won't work due to driver issues, but I hope this carries over.

Pretty cool but also confirmed the Tiamat 7.1 is the god of headsets.

The picture is too vague, I can't tell how this proves we get a headset.

I hope my Sony PS3 Wireless headset works with the ps4 because i really like it, but i have mixed feelings with bundling the headset: Before only those who wanted to talk and be somewhat productive had mics on the ps3 and now that everyone has one there is gonna be alot more childish behavior.

@djou: I don't think they have said anything one way or the other, but I imagine that it will work as a headset at the very least, even if some of the PS3-specific functionality won't work.

Probably TWICE as hard....

Xbox One is taking it one step further by not including a headset at all.

Having it just be a earbud and microphone like that alleviates the issue Xbox 360 ones had of constantly breaking due to rigid plastic.

It doesn't look like the best solution and I'm sure a third party (or more expensive first party) will be much better. Still, it's nice that it comes with one and may turn out to be A-OK.

I hope my Triton 720's are going to work with my PS4. I love them. It keeps everyone in my house happy because they can't hear anything and I'm happy because I can't hear them. I hope this won't take away my cross game chat, although I don't see how it will.

Yes, a little, as the PS3 did not come with one leading to two groups of people; those with shit bluetooth headsets and those without a headset.

In fairness the official Sony BT headset is pretty fantastic quality, just a shame it came about 3 years after the console launched and hardly anyone bought it.

Honestly I prefer MS's, I had no problem with their original cheap POPlastic (I've still got my XB360 one and it works fine) But as long as it's functional and isnt too uncomfortable i'll use it.

Sure, but that was before XBL/online play really took off this gen. I went in assuming that both consoles would have one, it seems almost essential at this point.

isnt there already a mic on the controller? is there any word on how that mic works? does it pick up the entire room or just a small area aroudn the controller.

PC USB headset with long cable is the way to go. Just like with the PS3.

I suppose none of this matters to me since I will still be using my Astro A40s. I like that the PS4 controller is seemingly more full featured. Improved shape -feel-buttons, it appears to be more useful for motion games, it includes it own mono speaker, and now it has a...cheap...but useful earbud & mic included. My guess is if you lose the earbud mic, you can just buy one from anywhere and it will work.
