...You rang?
I wouldn't compare Driveclub to GRID at all, it's not quite that hard-in handling style, nor did it appear to be various racing disciplines. Rather, the demo track rang a bit more like PGR challenges meet Autolog, with an overarching goal (fastest lap in a 2-lap run) with subchallenges littered through the track (best drifting in one section, taking corners perfectly in another section, and a top speed chicane area). The lesser challenges built into a "fame" score and Autolog-esque leaderboards, I believe, with a total leaderboard that distributed points based on position to decide which club was winning.
Handling was more akin to a NFS or Test Drive title, if there's any comparison to be had. It's not super-realistic but there's a definite weight and heft to the cars despite being able to throw them around corners with hard braking. Framerate seemed OK in the demo -- didn't feel like 30 FPS, but the graphics looked a bit jaggy-sharp, so if they end up doing some more anti-aliasing I could see it locking at 30.
Fun game, though. I think its key will be in how the club and leaderboard challenges are handled. If there's an emphasis on all-time bests like so many racing games with leaderboard challenges out there, Driveclub will suffer somewhat. If the club challenges and leaderboards for tracks and races are more temporary, being wiped on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, it should be rather fun.
Also, that car porn guy was crazy. Nothing about the demo made anything in Driveclub look like it embraced anything he was talking about, other than it has fast cars like every other racing game, yo.
