For someone who has never been invited to something that has required me to sign a NDA, what are usually the penalties for breaking one when you're just a normal consumer? I understand that it's different from case to case, but are there usually any actual sanctions or does it go by the honor system?

I just can't understand how companies can expect enough users to uphold a NDA to make it worth it if there aren't any real sanctions.

I remember talking pretty openly about both the SOCOM II and Final Fantasy XI betas.

This is the first time i've ever gotten beta access to anything like this. Except for like "open beta" shit.

Crap, I checked my email and found I did have a beta invite from sony online entertainment... Unfortunately it was for Everquest Next, which I'm curious about but not enough to preorder for beta access.

@amyggen: Even if there aren't explicit sanctions, it's still pretty scummy to break NDAs. It can seem harmless (or even helpful), but a heck of a lot of people count on that information coming out on their own terms. If companies thought this stuff was ready for the public, there wouldn't be an NDA.

@bwheeeler: Don't get me wrong, I understand why they're there and why you shouldn't break them. I was just curious as to what, if anything, happened if you broke one of these. With probably thousands invited to something like this I can't see much staying secret for long.

Got one last night. Waiting for the second email. Very excited but I wish the beta was for the PS4 or Vita. Oh well.

Asked about this in the PS3 forum but got no response. I played Catherine for a little bit and didn't experience any serious latency, ran pretty smooth even over WiFi.

FYI, there's a PS Now concept page for anyone to share their thoughts on it.
