Saw that Target has the PS3 + Vita copy on sale and might pick it up in the morning. Should I just go for it?

Worth paying $30?
I'm I the minority but I really liked All-Stars and felt fine paying 60$ for it so I would easily say it's worth 30$
It was my game of the year.
@Solh0und: I'd say it's worth that price. It's not super great but it's good. If you're good at beat 'em ups and plan on playing it online, then go for it. If you don't plan on playing online, save your money.
its good if you have friends to play with. If you just play it by yourself, it gets really repetitive and boring fast. Just depends on your playing habits I guess
@Solh0und: I got it today for $40 (albeit that was with $40 of trade credit) I've been having fun. At first blush it may not catch you but there really is some depth to the combat that is fun. I was insanely skeptical the entire way. I was one of the people actively making fun of it. Its really a game that you need to play to "get" because once you do its pretty fun.
On the surface, it's just another smash clone - and I hate even mentioning that.
But as you play more and more matches, you start to get the real subtle nuances. Super only kills is a deep mechanic, and it gives you a good balance of "do I blow this level 2 super, try and built it to a level 3, or just play defensive for the rest of the game?"
My biggest gripe with Super Smash Bros (and I haven't played melee) is the cacophony of items that rain from the sky and just get tossed around. I like how Battle Royale doesn't do that - as much. And the items don't feel nearly as overpowered as Smash Bros.
It's also a good break from traditional 2d (or 3d) fighters, if you are into that. Multiplayer is surprisingly fun and I've caught myself saying to myself "oh shit!" when Raiden corners 3 other guys, pulls off a level one super and takes us all out in a flash.
I also haven't played this on PS3 yet - my full experience has been on the Vita.
I just bought the game for 20 bucks with a 20 dollar credit on the psn store. I'd say its worth the price, but I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to wait, this game I'm assuming will eventually be one of those free games for psn plus subscribers.
1. Do you have Super Smash Bros. Brawl?
- YES - Play Brawl, and don't buy this game.
- NO - See next question.
2. Do you have a Wii or Wii U?
- YES - Buy Brawl, you can probably easily find it at a similar price.
- NO - Repeat these questions, but with the terms "Super Smash Bros. Melee" instead of "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" and "Game Cube" instead of "Wii U". If your answer is still "no" to both questions, then maybe buy this game.

@Snail: You put way too much effort into that. It's okay to enjoy All Stars.
It's OK to like it, but at best, the game is just OK.
I'd agree with this sentiment. I can't even be bothered to put in the disc to play the PS3 version but it's a fine game to pop off a couple of matches on the go with the Vita.

Exactly. This game just isn't better than the games it is sort of directly competing against. However, if you have a Vita and you want to populate your game library for that particular console, this seems like an okay thing to play on the fly. I'd still rather be playing a better game, but it's okay and it's got trophies and everything.
@Snail: That being said I hope they get to do another one. I feel like they have the core fighting and character specific moves down it's just severely lacking in the presentation department and has zero to do outside of the fighting.

Their biggest problem might be the roster though. If it was a lot more iconic and nostalgic I'd be way more into it. Have you watched the Quick Look? They point out that there's no "Marth" (I think that might've been their example) equivalent in this, and that Big Daddy has no business being in this game and it just felt like some weird marketing move. I think they're spot on. It lacks an obscure, "wink-of-the-eye" to old fans character, and other details that build up a charismatic charm.
It needs to be more earnest, innocent, and nostalgic in its roster. If they make a second game that's more like that it would certainly be a hopeful step forward.
