HOME, still excited?

#1 Edited by TwoOneFive (9459 posts) -

Wel, I am,  despite it taking nearly a century to be released. After seeing some more of its details at E3, like the individual game areas for Uncharted and Warhawk, i think its really awesome and might be a lot of fun.

EDIT: PUBLIC BETA OPENS DECEMBER 11
TOMORROW!

It looks like a semi intriguing sort of thing I may use sparingly, but not be overly fond of, honestly.  We'll see, but it's been pushed out of sight so much that it's starting to get out of mind too, know what I mean?

All the delays have killed my hype quite a bit.

#4 Posted by MrZeal (84 posts) -

Never really excited about it... but so many delays that they MUST be making something really nice out of it...
So I'm like mmmnnnhhheeee.... but the time is out I'll check it out instantly!

cheers :)

You better be! I'm in the closed beta, have been since May or so, and honestly its a really great tool.

I have said this many times in various forums and places; but I have made so many great friends in Home just from the beta, and the social ability in Home is like no other, its an extension of the PSN, creating a community where all PS3 gamers can chill with each other and talk, play games, get together and so on. It really is something that 360, Wii, and even PC don't have like this. Ability to go to E3 virtually with a bunch of buddies and get in a big group with friends as well as random people and just talk gaming and what they are showing, is really, really awesome.

At first I thought it was a cool idea.  But it just doesn't seem very practical.  I'm not too excited for it anymore, but that's not to say I won't check it out when it finally sees the light of day.

Who isn't? Looks like a really unique idea.

#9 Posted by MKLOL (71 posts) -

A little, after so many delays I don't really know...

#10 Posted by Otacon (2209 posts) -

I am as long as the experience is refined and customizable it should be a really fun social tool.

#11 Posted by Oriental_Jams (3063 posts) -

I am reasonably interested, though, I'm finding it less exciting than I once did.

#12 Posted by OGCartman (4354 posts) -

Its gonna be cool but im much more hyped for games

Yeah I agree, its free and its awesome, you dont want it, your loss, no one is forcing you.

PS- If anyone is lost with Home or just wants to know something about (question) you can ask, more then happy to answer how something works and whatnot.

Definitely.
I'll like it when it comes out, but for now, it is swept under the rug.
#15 Posted by kratos (208 posts) -

My excitement is a little lower then were it was though I am still really excited.

#16 Posted by Leone (145 posts) -

I've had my eye on it since it was announced, and I can't wait to give it a shot- but I honestly don't know how much I'll be using it in the end.

#17 Posted by spragels (97 posts) -

No I'm not excited. I don't even care anymore.

#18 Posted by suneku (2997 posts) -

I'm not too excited about it anymore either.

#19 Posted by SamuraiBudgerigar (129 posts) -

Nope, the constant delays have killed my interest in it. I'll probably still give it a go when it comes out but after all the delays I just can't bring myself to care

#20 Posted by Alex_V (615 posts) -

I don't have a PS3 yet - it looks like an absolutely brilliant killer application to me, and one of the best social tools I've ever seen. Could see me come over to Sony.

Some comments here seem weird. Have there been delays on Home? Has a release date ever been announced? Or is it just that it was announced too early for you?

#21 Posted by Caje (138 posts) -

Nope, I think the PSN is fine, doesn't really need Home.

#22 Posted by Jonage (42 posts) -

Never was really.

#23 Posted by RVonE (4683 posts) -

I'm still excited. Mainly because I just want to see what it is all about and how it will work.

#24 Posted by AaronBelfast (1491 posts) -

Hype went down 50% since 2006, it's official OFFICIAL!!!!!!

#25 Posted by AttackedCamo (821 posts) -

I'm 50/50 with Home.

#26 Posted by Scorched (691 posts) -

Sure but It's been delayed an awful lot and I wasn't super excited about it when it was first released but it looks interesting.

#27 Posted by ManlyBeast (1170 posts) -

Not as much, because of all the lame delays....but I still really want it. :D

#28 Posted by Sentry (4197 posts) -

It wasn't really delayed as long as people make it seem... delayed from beginning of 08 to late 08, OMG!, not a biggie.

Seriously though if you saw Home at GDC and liked it, there is no reason you wont like it now. In fact, if Home was launched when they first debuted it at GDC 07, the current Home (08) could be called Home 2. That is how much improvements and differences they have made.

#29 Posted by Juxiang (14 posts) -

I'm not so interested anymore. At first I thought it was kind of a cool idea (though I cared much more about the LBP announcement), but the more I think about, the less practical it seems. I doubt I'll want to go into a virtual world to 'hang out' with people, but hey, I'd love to be proven wrong.

#30 Posted by Verbtex (3 posts) -

I'm totally excited. =)

#31 Posted by Pikachu (449 posts) -

not as much as used to be

#32 Posted by theycallmeryan (100 posts) -

I'm still interested.

#33 Posted by NoPantsTuesday (18 posts) -

With all the delays I've gone through, I don't even believe it exists anymore! Especially if you compare last years E3 press conference to 2008. In 2007 the whole conference was hype for home, with everyone making their presentations through the home interface. This year in comparison, Jack Tretton made a brief plug of it. To me it was as if he said "Oh yeah, and that home thing? Yeah, I guess were still making it...".

I'm more excited about Little Big Planet now.

#34 Posted by pimsy (62 posts) -

I still cant wait

#35 Posted by Schadenfreude (206 posts) -

I've never understood the appeal for Home, while I can for Miis and Avatars. If I wanted to play Second Life, I would.

I'll download it regardless, since it's free.

#36 Posted by Katatonic (41 posts) -

I'm definitely still excited!  Delays or not, I"m sure it'll still be pretty awesome when it's finally released upon all us happy ps3 owners.

#37 Posted by maa4208 (80 posts) -

I still am looking forward to Home. It is something new that can bring PS users together and I'm for it. and it's unique (well, for the most part) and thats good too.

#38 Posted by Katatonic (41 posts) -

Will Home be free or is it something you'll have to pay to download?

#39 Posted by speciman (49 posts) -

Too many delays!

#40 Posted by JakeB (19 posts) -

I was a lot more excited earlier on before it was delayed until forever or whenever it's supposed to come out. It still looks cool, and I'd like to see what it's like.

#41 Posted by ethanpaige (12 posts) -

I'm definitely still excited for it, but the hype has died down

#42 Posted by Jawshua (268 posts) -

I'm still excited to get my hands on it, just not as much as I was when it was first announced.

#43 Posted by Homer (1372 posts) -

Could be good.

#44 Posted by Buzzer_Beater (200 posts) -

I'm not that excited. After all those delays I got over it. I'm more excited about the games this fall.

#47 Posted by sizu (391 posts) -

Yeah I look forward to checking it out.  Hopefully it delivers the promised goods:)

#48 Posted by PandaShake (395 posts) -

I never knew how home looked like untill this e3 with the clip,

#49 Posted by MasterNinja49 (6 posts) -

Can't say i ever was excited for Home.

#50 Posted by NotaStalker (172 posts) -
