cancel your credit card you used on the psn ASAP...mine was used today on a columbian autparts site, our info is out there in the wild right now there is nothing we can do about it., i had to cancel my card and its gonna take a bit before i get the money back, ive seen reports of people getting hit with 2k purchases, 1500, 500. dont mess around just cancel it if you used one simple as that.  change your passwords for your email you used also for your psn and the psn password which you cant change till it goes back online. thank god we didnt have to put our social sec # in there...

Get outta' here with this, quit spreading your paranoia.  There is no reports of anything yet so...I hardly doubt this happened to you and if it did, then it was used by someone else and had nothing to do with the PSN.

Any chance these incidences were purely coincidental? I too have my information on PSN, and am pretty bummed out about this whole mess... but could your circumstance be merely coincidental. Chances are you use your credit card for more than just buying Avatars and DLC on PSN. I dont mind people warning about stuff that happens or just telling people about what has happened to your credit cards in general... but dont just say that you seen reports of things that have happened and tell everyone to cancel all their cards and whatnot. Without evidence you're merely a homeless person holding a sign reading "THE END IS NEAR!"

not coincidental, never had my credit card # stolen till today , whats happend since then oh yeah psn gets hacked.  im very careful with my information period its the only way it got out there. im a network admin for a living no spyware no bullcrap on my boxes.  you can cry bs all you guys want but your information is out there period.  sony is not gonna flat out and tell people there credit card #s were stolen , imagine how many class action lawsuits would come just from that theres 70 million ps3 users.  sony didnt encrypt the credit card # data which is where the problem lies.

this is how psn logs your information this is taken from this forum a hacker log chat...  so its not real data but this is why sony fd up the server it self was encrypted but the data was not.

so imagine this database hackers managed to get 2 million of these and trys to go underground to sale it to the highest bidder its like a fucking movie.

so you open a file and bam theres your info.

Yeah, that doesn't really answer anything and confirms you're simply searching the net for formatting and the like, then wildly speculating. Will continue to live life as normal.

if you dont think to cancel your credit card then good luck... even PlayStation blog is very cryptic and is telling you that your cc# was compromised period.  no reason to list credit reports and fraud stuff, shit is only beginning.

I had my CC cancelled and re-issued about 20 minutes after this news first broke. Got the new one today. Cost me nothing but 4 days without a physical card.

Oh i don't blame anyone for cancelling their card. Was lucky myself that i was in the middle of changing over to a 0% balance transfer thing so the previous one on PSN is expiring end of this month.

However, that doesn't make this nonsensical ranty thread any less amusing.

People , think about it is sony gonna flat out tell you 70 million credit card#s were stolen + all your info name, pasword, address, ccv#,cc# they have everything but your ss#.   hell no sony is already gonna be in hot water over the mess. banks are loosing over 300 million just to replace credit cards.  i dont get why you check ps blog and it flat says your cc# was comprimised but they cant say it legally so they tell you in other ways.

Me not so smart, but Sony doesn't save your security code. And with every online purchase I've ever made(Which is a lot), they require your security code to verify the purchase being made.

Can someone explain how these purchases are being made if the security code isn't there? And, doesn't that defeat the purpose of a security code?
