cancel your credit card you used on the psn ASAP...mine was used today on a columbian autparts site, our info is out there in the wild right now there is nothing we can do about it., i had to cancel my card and its gonna take a bit before i get the money back, ive seen reports of people getting hit with 2k purchases, 1500, 500. dont mess around just cancel it if you used one simple as that.  change your passwords for your email you used also for your psn and the psn password which you cant change till it goes back online. thank god we didnt have to put our social sec # in there...

Get outta' here with this, quit spreading your paranoia.  There is no reports of anything yet so...I hardly doubt this happened to you and if it did, then it was used by someone else and had nothing to do with the PSN.

Come on, man.

#4 Posted by RaisingIndiana (76 posts) -

Any chance these incidences were purely coincidental? I too have my information on PSN, and am pretty bummed out about this whole mess... but could your circumstance be merely coincidental. Chances are you use your credit card for more than just buying Avatars and DLC on PSN. I dont mind people warning about stuff that happens or just telling people about what has happened to your credit cards in general... but dont just say that you seen reports of things that have happened and tell everyone to cancel all their cards and whatnot. Without evidence you're merely a homeless person holding a sign reading "THE END IS NEAR!"

Mine was used to purchase Madagascar. Not the film either.

God knows how i'll explain this to the bank.

#9 Posted by delusionaltool (80 posts) -

not coincidental, never had my credit card # stolen till today , whats happend since then oh yeah psn gets hacked.  im very careful with my information period its the only way it got out there. im a network admin for a living no spyware no bullcrap on my boxes.  you can cry bs all you guys want but your information is out there period.  sony is not gonna flat out and tell people there credit card #s were stolen , imagine how many class action lawsuits would come just from that theres 70 million ps3 users.  sony didnt encrypt the credit card # data which is where the problem lies.

#10 Posted by Levianth (107 posts) -

I woke up this morning and someone had payed off my credit card. Thank you anonymous.

#11 Edited by Green_Incarnate (1788 posts) -

If I had a PSN account, I would have canceled my credit card and changed passwords on day one. Y'all are dumb.

#12 Posted by Ratinho (77 posts) -

Just out of interest, want to link to the reports of people getting hit with $2k-500 charges. As i've seen no reports of any activity linked ot this so far.

#13 Posted by The_Painted (181 posts) -

Seeing someone live up to their username is always entertaining.

#14 Posted by delusionaltool (80 posts) -

this is how psn logs your information this is taken from this forum a hacker log chat...  so its not real data but this is why sony fd up the server it self was encrypted but the data was not.

so imagine this database hackers managed to get 2 million of these and trys to go underground to sale it to the highest bidder its like a fucking movie.

so you open a file and bam theres your info.

You'd think that would raise a red flag with the bank.
#16 Posted by Ratinho (77 posts) -

Yeah, that doesn't really answer anything and confirms you're simply searching the net for formatting and the like, then wildly speculating. Will continue to live life as normal.

Will watch out for any South American dealings on my card ofc.

#17 Posted by delusionaltool (80 posts) -
if you dont think to cancel your credit card then good luck... even PlayStation blog is very cryptic and is telling you that your cc# was compromised period.  no reason to list credit reports and fraud stuff, shit is only beginning.
#18 Posted by Levianth (107 posts) -
@JJWeatherman: Partially red.

#19 Posted by chrissedoff (2075 posts) -

if you don't cancel your credit card as soon as you hear that it might be compromised, you're a sucker, in my opinion.

#20 Posted by Ratinho (77 posts) -

Shit is only beginning :D :D :D

Sound like Woody in 2012.

More of the same, and your proof shows the ccv2 code being saved, which is against the law.

#22 Posted by Towers (96 posts) -

I had my CC cancelled and re-issued about 20 minutes after this news first broke. Got the new one today. Cost me nothing but 4 days without a physical card.

Excessive? Maybe but it was easy and I would've been an idiot to pretend I was untouchable.

It also puts your mind at ease. Which in my book is pretty good.

coincidence is bs psn was hacked its still down 21 states of fbi branches are involved in this shit.   my card was used , more people will follow you guys will laugh and tease which is fine but karma is a bitch.   too many people getting fraud charges after all this psn shit went down it only makes fucking sense.

#25 Posted by Ratinho (77 posts) -

Oh i don't blame anyone for cancelling their card. Was lucky myself that i was in the middle of changing over to a 0% balance transfer thing so the previous one on PSN is expiring end of this month.

However, that doesn't make this nonsensical ranty thread any less amusing.

Exactly. Now if only that Nigerian Prince would get back to me... all my money issues would be solved!
#27 Posted by delusionaltool (80 posts) -

People , think about it is sony gonna flat out tell you 70 million credit card#s were stolen + all your info name, pasword, address, ccv#,cc# they have everything but your ss#.   hell no sony is already gonna be in hot water over the mess. banks are loosing over 300 million just to replace credit cards.  i dont get why you check ps blog and it flat says your cc# was comprimised but they cant say it legally so they tell you in other ways.

#28 Posted by defaulttag (890 posts) -

did it a few days ago to be safe.

#29 Posted by ssj4raditz (1125 posts) -

I have fraud protection, but do you still think it smart to get a new card?

Not sure... if trollin'.

#34 Posted by delusionaltool (80 posts) -
@RankRabbit:

ya thats the problem , i think this is only the beginning sony is gonna get alot of shit from this , this really could hurt them period. it already is hurting users/devs/playstation .  i just think the ps blog right now says it all they legally cant tell you your cc# was stolen but they sure do get around that loophole with what they have on there, basically telling you hey your info is out there you should cancel your crap.
#35 Posted by delusionaltool (80 posts) -

i was not trolling just letting people know to cancel there cc# they used on psn. and the cynics out there wanna be asses its ok, i dont care if they loose money its not mine to loose. i got frauded today now im getting flamed its cool.

Mine was used to order itty bitty gang bang...goddamn hackers!...

#38 Posted by N7 (3572 posts) -

Me not so smart, but Sony doesn't save your security code. And with every online purchase I've ever made(Which is a lot), they require your security code to verify the purchase being made.

Can someone explain how these purchases are being made if the security code isn't there? And, doesn't that defeat the purpose of a security code?
