The one thing I'll say against this is that it seems like a big enough announcement that they would save it for a larger event. Why just throw such a big franchise out there when a relatively small number of people will notice?

Geez. I hope not. GOW 3 was a snooze fest. Aside from the opening sequence, I much preferred the first two games.

Chances of it being a Vita game?

I kind of feel like it will be God of War 4, but I still kind of hope that Santa Monica is taking over the Heavenly Sword franchise. I don't think that game took off and was the blockbuster that it should have been. A sequel to that could be really cool.

Y'know I really didn't think the first God of War was all that it was cracked up to be, but then I played 2 (for some reason) and thought that it was really good, a great game.

Still didn't make me play 3 though so I don't feel particulary invested in the franchise or anything, and would rather see them put resources into something I found interesting instead.

Maybe they'll surprise me, though.

We did have a leaked God of War 4 trailer some time ago - but it was pretty rough and most people discounted it as being fake. I would love to see that trailer in a polished finished version, just so those people can eat their words.

It's probably God of War 4 but I would love it to be something new or unexpected.

If it is. It is going to be about his brother. GOW2 special features mention some crazy poo poo about that. Unless that was addressed in the PSP games and I don't remember.

With a tagline going "Will Vengeance Bring Redemption?" I have a hard time seeing that being the case, that said I would totally play a Heavenly Sword game with good gameplay.

I like God of War. It's fun to kill guys.

That might explain why the timing is a bit odd. Although plenty of really big titles have been announced away from shows/conventions.

I'm down.

I'd be up for playing a new God of war.  That engine was too pretty to just make one game and run.

I just hoping so much that it's GOW 4 and it's Jaffe's original idea of Kratos moving onto other mythologies and murdering Asgardians and Egyptian gods and stuff. I wanna see Thor vs Kratos then get Mjolnir as a weapon.

I really don't see why another game in the God of War franchise is at all necessary but I'll play it regardless. If Santa Monica and Sony wants my money though, they need to announce a new IP.

I'm excited and really hope its some sort of departure from the previous trilogy in terms of location and character. Playing as another God of War in a different mythology would be awesome, but that may be something they save for the next generation.

But didn't we find out the god of war was inside us all along or some shit at the end of three, culminating in suicide?
