I know everyone's pretty bummed about the whole PSN hack thing, but I'm curious to know what you think Sony could be doing to make you feel better about the whole situation. We already know that they're going to be offering us free games when it gets back, but what can they do from now until it's up to make you feel better about not having any PSN functions? Personally, although I know it'll never happen, I'd like to see them do some sort of live stream to prove that they're working on it (something akin to BP's live oil spill cameras). On a more realistic note though, I'd love to just see a checklist of what they've done and what they still have left to do before the service is back up and running. I don't need large updates to the blog, nor do I care what games they offer when they get back. I just want to know where they are and what's left. But even that's unlikely because they would probably be opening the door for further hacks.
I don't know. What do you guys think?
PlayStation Network (PS3)
Platform »
The PlayStation Network is the online service by Sony Computer Entertainment, providing downloads of games, trailers, themes and much more. The service is free, but also offers a paid version for various benefits.
What can Sony do to appease you?
Let's look at the bright side of this, people. This is the longest PS3 owners have gone without a slow-as-shit firmware update. That's a positive, right?

Stop updating my PS3 every 4 days? Maybe? Please? Also, this whole "you'll get a game from this list of 4 or 5 games we've chosen (based on sales performance)" is kind of bullshit. Expected bullshit, but still bullshit. Just give me $20 PSN bucks to spend how I see fit or something.
I just want psn to come back online asap. I don't need any compensation because i really haven't been super negatively impacted by this. I don't need proof that they're working on the issue because of course they're working on it, it's not like they don't think it's that big of a deal that psn's down.
I dont think sony will be posting a giant list of how they are upgrading there security or giving us up to the minute info on how far along they are for obvious security reasons.
I Just want PSN back up.
Doesn't really matter what free shit they give away since there will always be entitled pricks who always want more. I was happy with a month of plus.
(completely going past everyone and just replying to OP...or Sony, whatever.) Dear Sony,
At this point, if it needs to be like this, I want more transparency. I want to see what you guys are doing. Show me the steps you are taking. Even if its a video of your office workers literally working on the problem... explain to us what you're doing, or even just get behind a projector and tell us "what's next" (like those old "New firmware" videos). Bring us behind the scenes to see what exactly is going on. Obviously, Sony shouldn't show us everything due to security purposes and blah blah blah, but i don't want to be waiting 3 days for a new update on the blog only to get a "We're still working on it" message expanded by 4 paragraphs. Hell, I dont want 4 paragraphs anymore. Thats not gonna cut it.
Sony, I trust that you are doing everything possible to get PSN back online, I really do! But you need to show me what you're doing. Give me a better understanding and don't hide it with "Hey look! free 30 days PSN+! Free download! Free 30 day music service!"
I want to get back to playing online, and while i'm not doing that? I want to know what is going on.
Give me more transparency into this issue.
Month free of Plus and keeping us updated until it comes on is all I think Sony needs to do to keep me happy.

If they gave me anything I'm be pretty soaked considering I don't own a PS3.
Honestly, I don't think appeasement is the right way to look at it. Sure, throw out some free stuff where you can, but just get PSN back up, accept it as a failure, learn from it, and move on. People have a right to be pissed off and I don't think anything they can do will really make up for it.
Free games... Free PSN+... Extra features... I could really care less about any of that.
What I'd want most is simple accountability. Just an official admission that they haven't kept up to par on security and that maybe their business practices have done more damage making enemies, than they have in providing a better product. At this point we still have no idea who even did this. Normally you'd have a decent idea, or at least a couple of suspects that stand over the rest, but Sony's pissed off so many people who might be capable of an attack like this that it's going to make it hard for them to ever know who, unless the guilty party slips up and does something stupid.
Even after everything's back up and secure. Is it really? They say it will be, but they've said that before. And if they don't learn how to play nice, or at least show a little tact in their dealings with those they don't like, there's going to be no shortage of parties willing to test just how secure the new network is.
The first part of bettering yourself is admitting you have a problem. Admitting your faults. That's all I really want from Sony at this point. Instead I'm seeing a lot of shifting of blame, only admitting things they absolutely have to (and even then, like the asking for credit card security codes, only admitting after they were caught not telling the truth). I just want to feel like maybe they've learned something, anything, from all of this.

" Give free PS2 emulator for PS3-owners. "I'm fairly happy with what they are offering as apology but I am more than willing to lie and say its not good enough if someone puts backwards compatibility on the table. Or if they let us choose which games we want to be re-released on PSN.
