Ok, technically 4 minutes ago. But yeah I was playing Modnation Racers and I couldn't connect to the servers so I rebooted my PS3 and couldn't log into PSN at all. Did some research and it's going to be down starting now 12pm (EST) and will be down for about 12 hours.

There's a rumour going round that its for the 3d update and a new XMB. 
Take that with a pinch of salt (the xmb bit)

I mean at least they are scheduled. More times than not Xbox Live! has been down just because; which sucks because I am paying for it.

Oh, no. They can't force me to go outside.  Only my ciggarette addiction can do that.  I'm gonna turn on my PS2, and dive through a TV.

I wish I had realised this before, I went and purchase a game specifically to play online with friends (BlazBlue) this morning and I got about 20 minutes of gameplay (the right amount to start having fun and getting into it) and then no more :| By the time its back up ill be asleep so I wont get to play for almost 24 hours. While a single day isnt that long its annoying to purchase a game specifically to join your friends then be told to wait.

It's just network updates. 
 
If it was 3D and XMD etc it'd be in a patch and they would simply be testing ti on a backup server. Rumours are for ignorant people.

They dont shut down the network for 12hours just so they can release demos. I don't buy into any of that nonsense rumour mill malarcky.
