The main source of distribution of content on the PlayStation Network is through the PlayStation Store. The PlayStation Store provides different kinds of content, such as games, demos, trailers, themes, wallpapers, add-ons, music, television shows (currently U.S. only), and movies (currently U.S. only), either for free or for a fixed price. The PlayStation Store is updated every Thursday with new content, and on special occasions like E3 it is updated off-schedule.PlayStation Store for PC
Sony Computer Entertainment has created a portal to the PlayStation Store for PSP users who do not have access to a PlayStation 3 in order to download the content available for their handheld system. It is accessible through a free application available on their website called Media On. It is smaller than the PS3's store due to the removal of anything that cannot be played on a PSP. Whole disc-based games like Wipeout Pure and Jeanne D Arc are available for download, and can be run off the memory stick. PS1 ports like Warhawk and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night can also be bought.Payment Methods
Unlike some other online platforms that use points as a means of currency, the PlayStation Store uses the same currency of the country in which the user resides. There are different kinds of payment methods accepted on the PlayStation Store. When you add funds onto your account, those funds are stored in your "Wallet". Different methods of adding funds include:- Credit Card
- Pre-Paid Card
- PLAYSTATION Network Card
PSP PlayStation Store
The PS Store was integrated with the PSP in October of 2008. As a part of the PSP update 5.00, PSP users are able to access the store right from their handhelds to download games and media right to their memory stick. This store is the same as the one available for PC. It is important for Sony's strategy to continue to push digital distribution with the PSN so that PSP games will be available day and date to download off the store. The PSP Go will depend on this due to its lack of a UMD drive.Life with PlayStation
On June 26, 2008, Sony announced Life with PlayStation. It is a free service that features a 3D globe where users can zoom in on certain sections to find the weather and news headlines of that area. At E3 2008, Sony also announced that Life with PlayStation will also allow users to upload videos from their games straight to YouTube. Life with PlayStation was released on September 18, 2008.PlayStation Network games
