So only BioShock 2 added to the instant game collection so far. Hopefully there'll be more to come in the coming weeks.

I have a feeling there will be more. A while back they had a poll on the playstation blog and the results seemed to indicate that readers wanted weekly posts about what was new for plus instead of monthly posts. Also, I thought RE5 expires tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it does.

It already is a weekly post. They post every Monday about what is new for the week. What people wanted was a post at the start of the month telling what will be available that month, AND a weekly reminder. The poll is at the bottom of this blog post.

So when things expire you can never play them again. If I signed up in 2 days I couldn't then play RE5, not that I would but is that correct?

#6 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19388 posts) -

@Nightriff: I don't think I get what you're saying. Once you get a free game, it's yours as long as you are subscribed. What's expiring is its status as "free" from the PSN Store.

#7 Posted by Nightriff (5365 posts) -

@FluxWaveZ: So if I signed up today I could get "x" game, if it expires tomorrow and I sign up the next day i will not be able to get "x" game. Now I understand how PS+ works...I think. Thanks Fluxwavez

The Brits got the better line up this month.

They got everything announced at once, though. We don't know what's coming next for North America.

On the blog, the PR dude states:

Stay tuned to these updates throughout the month, and I think you’ll find that we’ll have plenty of content to match EU this December!
#10 Posted by PenguinDust (12640 posts) -

@FluxWaveZ: We'll see then, but as it stands right now I'd rather Batman:AC, Vanquish or Limbo over Bioshock 2.

#11 Posted by Fredchuckdave (6162 posts) -

Aww evil automatic resub is screwing me, I actually own Bioshock 2 (though who knows if I'll ever take it out of the shrinkwrap). RE5 is at least pretty fun to play through with default weapons to unlock the DLC and Mercenaries Reunion.

#12 Posted by Spoonman671 (4777 posts) -

I never did get to play through Minerva's Den. Maybe I should download Bioshock 2 and then buy it.

Yeah, I think that's the only reason I'll bother downloading BioShock 2. I've heard some good things about that DLC.

I'd really love it if they gave us calender of what is coming out each week. I'm kind of an impatient person so I get anxious waiting until Monday to see what's coming out that week.

I already played through Bioshock 2 on PC and didn't really care for it so PS+ is kind of a bust for me this week. Knowing that we're getting another full game (I assume that's the case since they say we'll have plenty to match EU this month) gives me hope.

It kinda sucks that I re-bought SSF4AE for the PS3 2 weeks ago... Oh well at least I don't have to put the disc in anymore lol.

Yeah, this is one the first "Aw, I just bought that like a month ago" moments I've had with Plus, most of the time the stuff I already own is pretty minor. Not too stoked about Rochard, but its something.

#19 Posted by Nodima (1300 posts) -

I downloaded Bioshock 2, but I haven't even played the first one yet. I've heard they're only loosely connected so I'm curious if this could be like a Terminator 2 - Terminator 1 situation, where you might feel different about them depending what order you saw them but you still get the same kick out of it.

Super Street Fighter 4 is 18 gigs; kind of enormous especially considering King of Fighters is like 2.5, and really in general the only games I can think of that large are MGS4 and MMOs.

Huge is right. I can't believe it's that big.

#23 Posted by Chrjz (338 posts) -

EU gets Vanquish? I need to relocate; I've been wanting that one for a while.

#24 Posted by I_smell (3925 posts) -

All these games are free? Jesus christ PS+ is nuts!

#25 Posted by ManU_Fan10ne (659 posts) -

SSFIV just finished downloading. Now I have to play it.

Infamous 2 is 15 gigs, believe it or not. I guess PS3 has the advantage of no compression.

#27 Posted by Fredchuckdave (6162 posts) -

@IrrelevantJohn: Yeah 15 gigs is around the high end for standard games; believe Witcher 2 is around that. But 15 is not 18 and Infamous 2 is a large open world game; Street Fighter is a fighting game with limited assets, how many graphics could they possibly be stacking on a 2.5D screen at once, it's not UMVC3 with all of that weirdness so I'm just curious what makes it so enormous.

#28 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19388 posts) -

@Fredchuckdave: The Steam version of the game is 9GB, so it might have something to do with optimization?

#29 Posted by Bourbon_Warrior (4523 posts) -

I think I finally get PS+ its like a cable subscription when you get to watch movies for free a while after they came out. tempted to get a Vita just so I can get PS+, but does anyone know if you can store psp vita games on your PC so you can easily transfer them

#30 Posted by BlackLagoon (1460 posts) -

@Bourbon_Warrior: You have to download the games to the Vita or a PS3, but you can back them up to a PC from the Vita using the Content Manager application.

#31 Posted by Petiew (1361 posts) -
@Fredchuckdave: The AE upgrade was 1.5 gigs and had 4 characters.  There're another 35 (I think) characters in the base game. If you include all of the stages, music, movies, etc I can see how it adds up based on that.
#32 Posted by Red (5994 posts) -

That's awesome. Never played BioShock 2 and should be good to catch up on it before Infinite.

#33 Posted by IrrelevantJohn (1093 posts) -

@Fredchuckdave: Well Skyrim is a large open world game but can you explain why it can all fit in one 360 disc?

Lower quality textures, I'd assume. I bet if you put Filda Battleface next to Cammy, one will look a little higher res.
#35 Posted by IrrelevantJohn (1093 posts) -

@Brodehouse: Well you are probably right on that.

Awesome, was going to grab uncharted with the PSP Vita but saw you can get it on Plus so it's really a no-brainer to get it. Does the PSP Vita have any inbuilt storage? How many GB's is Uncharted?

#37 Posted by Kerned (1169 posts) -

@Bourbon_Warrior: Keep in mind too that you don't have to keep your free games on your Vita or PS3 if space is a concern. You can just click "purchase," cancel the download, then download them whenever you want (as long as your PS+ membership is still active, of course).

#38 Posted by BlackLagoon (1460 posts) -

@Bourbon_Warrior: No, the only internal storage on the Vita is for the OS, so you'll need a memory card. Most bundles include a 4 GB one however. And Uncharted: Golden Abyss requires 3.3 GB says the PSN store.

#39 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19388 posts) -

Can someone please tell me why it won't let me download the 18 GB SSFIV, saying "There is not enough free space on the system storage", when I have 30 GB free?

@FluxWaveZ said:

Well it needs 18GB for the file itself and then it needs to install that 18GB game so, 18 +18 = 36GB required. After the installation it will free 18GB of the 36GB being used during that process.

Start deleting shit.

Aw, what the fuck. I deleted all I wanted to, but now I'll have to delete things I'll need to get back. Pain in the ass.

So this game I've never heard of is the free game for this week:

Also, the "Holiday Essential Sale" has started. There are some good deals in there:

#43 Posted by mosespippy (4466 posts) -

Glad I'm not the only one who has never heard of it. I feel like for me to not know about a game it needs to be big enough to not be indie and small enough to not have a PR/marketing plan.

This month has been pretty meh. Hopefully, next month will be better.

That seems to be the cry of many people on the Playstation Blog.
